I'm considering replacing my triple Radeon 4850s with 1 gig of RAM for either a 460 GTX overclocked to 800 or a GTX 465 overclocked to 700mhz. I'm sorta getting burned out on multi GPU and the stuttering is driving me nuts. I find it hilarious that a meager GTX 460 768 meg had about the same performance in actual gameplay at max detail in Darksiders at 2560 * 1600 as 3 1 gig 4850s at 1080p and it seemed much smoother.

They both cost about the same. In fact I already have both in other machines and don't have time to run a benchmark war but I'm wondering what you think has better performance potential @1080p. I don't mind the differences in power consumption.

I thought it might be the 465 because it has 11 tesselators compared to 7 in the 460GTX but it also has less texture units at only 44 compared to the 56 in the 460GTX.

An Asus 460 GTX 768 is going for about $150 shipped after promo code and it also has a $20 MIR. I hate MIR.

The Galaxy GTX 465 is $159.99 shipped. The cooler makes SLI impossible in close quarters unless coupled with a sucker style external exhaust partner but the Galaxy runs cool and real quiet.

I posted that one in the Hot Deals Forum

I prefer the way the Nvidia cards are working(higher min FPS) and having native PhysX and since I already have 1 of each in other machines I want to keep the option open for SLI in the future. Performance is close enough to 5850 to not matter. Thanks anyway.
