If you're OK with the price, yeah, that's a pretty good model all around for PQ and gaming.

Verified by RTINGS.com on alternatives to the model they picked with best PQ. In fact it's actually the best option for gaming in that price range of the Notable Mentions.

The only Con mentioned is it loses color saturation at wider viewing angles, but for a personal gaming display, that shouldn't matter. Just don't expect it to be a great display for inviting folks over to watch the big game on weekends, unless you sit in narrow rows behind one another.

I have Philips 42PUS7809 and I'm quite happy with it. One of the first 4K TV's. Would definitely go with another Philips TV.

Ohhhh. Yeah I give zero fucks about any of that.

Thanks, I agree I don't care about this. I heard about it back when it first came out. And I have a Samsung phone and Moto 360 watch that are listening to everything I say all the time already. So who cares.

I'm waiting a year or two for the price drops on 4K OLED TV's. LG is ramping up production big time, even going beyond Samsung in OLED.

Prices are OUCH right now: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/tvs/oled-tvs/pcmcat301000050010.c?id=pcmcat301000050010
Yeah I figure I will just sell this Samsung in a year or two and put the money towards an OLED then. I read an article where the SK government is giving incentives to companies there to produce OLEDS so there will be a lot more on the market in the next few years.

Its more than twice as much as the one I posted...

There's something fishy going on with your link. The link text shows JU6500, but it takes me to a JU7100 model.

Can anyone else confirm this? This is why I said IF you're OK with the price, because I thought you were talking about the 7100. Or you could split the difference between the price of the 6500 and 7100 by going with the 40" 7100 and sitting closer. That would also give you more pixels per square in though.

The main difference between the 6500 and 7100 models is you get more blur with the 6500 and it has no 24p support, so you'll also get judder in movies.

So which model did you get? Don't be a tease damn it, I want to know!

Regarding OLED, it's actually only PLED that makes sense buying, and only if the prices come down considerably. Reason being, even the Polymer vs Organic based film only has a blue spectrum life expectancy of 20,000 hrs. That's 1/3 the life of an LCD screen TV.

OK, I'm willing to suffer a higher cost to life ratio for a much better picture, but the reality is, it would effectively already be 3 times as expensive even at the same price due to lasting a 1/3 as long, yet they're way more expensive.

There's something very wrong with that picture.

Nobody wants an expensive disposable TV.

No one answered my question as to whether anyone else was seeing a different TV on your link.

This is what I see when I click that link...

So I have to say the new TV is freaking amazing!!! When you watch true 4k video its so good its like your mind cant fully process it, here is a great sample video on YouTube -
Also these TVs auto "upscale" standard HD so even normal shows look better than a standard HD screen. Its pretty amazing.

As far as gaming goes ... wow!!!! So I tried GTA 5 and like we all knew there is no way my single GTX970 can handle that res, you have to turn it down and then the game does not look very good, GTA 5 is much better on my QHD PC screen with this video card. But for older games.... wow!!! MAFIA II looks freaking unbelievable in 4k! Its pretty exciting that all games and TV in the near future are going to look this good!

Cheers.

I also want to mention that my new Samsung has PlayStation Now built into it. This is very interesting, though I already have a real PS3. The frustrating thing is there does not seem to be a way to pair my PS3 controller with it, instead I have to buy a Bluetooth controller. Still its pretty amazing that I basically have a PS3 built into my TV. The reviews I have read are pretty good, the video is not as good as a real PS3 but it sounds like its a great substitute if you don't have one.

Has anyone else tried Playstation Now built into their TV?

In a Samsung product? That's pretty amazing... how do you play games, all DLC?
