I don't know if you ever saw the carnaige that DaMulta faced when a tec overheated and completely melted the acetal on a GPU block. It was ugly.

The amazing part was after cleaning up the card (I think it was a x1900 or x2900), he got it working like new.

That is why i stick with air cooling , beside a good HSF with heat pipe is almost as good as water cooling , unless you want extreme overclock to benchs & break records

So, if you haven't already tried cleaning the card (which you should)... let me tell you a story.

<story>
I had a pair of Corsair XMS DDR2-800 sticks that went bad. Tried the sticks in/out single, double and same result - blue screens, errors, you name it. I was about to RMA.

I looked at the contacts and saw a greenish hue on both sticks. It occured to me that I had splashed some coolant in my case when doing some maintenance.

So, out with queue tips alcohol and pencil eraser... cleaned and rubbed, polished and looked.

Low and behold, the memory was like new again!!! Worked great, even up to the 1100 speed I had it at before.

Warm your oven to 170f. Take off the heatsink and heatspreaders, Wash the card and everything else with clean water and a soft toohbrush, rinse well. Place into the oven for about 4-5 hours. Re-assemble and try it out. I think you'll be surprised.

The only thing that may be a hitch is a hosed BIOS... if the hardware is indeed good, you should be able to force a flash.

I'm cleaning it, so far the green stuff is away, but underneath its brown, eh I'll clean more. I might try what Sasqui said. There's no warranty void sticker anywhere so removing the heatsink should be fine.

Oh and I will stick to WC just not with this rig. I still have that dual-FX mobo with 12 SATA ports thats great for a server, and I have the blocks for it (only air coolers that would fit are expensive Noctuas).

Was the computer powered on when it happened? There's a high chance the card gets ok if it wasn't....

Try buying a dry lubricant spray suitable for use on PCB's and drench it.

You can always try.... there's nothing (left) to lose.....

i would seriously try cleaning this up and rma the sucker. Tbh alot of people are saying that they dont go water for this reason. I bet that mcrl just became relaxed with putting his loop together and forgot to check and double check, we all do this with builds after a while. I first built my loop about 3 months ago took me about 3 days to get it where i was happy to turn things on lol. I bet your loop took about an hour or so mrcl. We all make these mistakes and throw things together at times and wish we had taken the 3 days of proofing the loop. o well try RMA it.

It was on yes. I leave my PCs on during the night (WCG), and it leaked then, so it was powered on until I discovered it around noon

I'll get back to that hug if I come raound visiting Malta once

That loop took me a whole day. Assembling in case 1 was a pain, then I discovered it doesn't work out, ripped it out again, was annoyed, installed everything (complete hardware swap) in case 2. I think I ran out of patience to triple check everything. I fried a board some time ago due to me not checking enough, so one can assume I learned my lesson; well now I have
