You obviously need to do some more research...an HD 5770 is close to a GTX 260 performance-wise while consuming way less power and bringing DX11 support to the table. Future Games, yes, high settings, yes, play games good, yes. Plus those cards OC pretty damn decent also.

Here's a link for ya: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Powercolor/HD_5770_PCS_Plus_Plus/29.html

Maybe you were mistaking the HD5770 for something else, but you are wrong on your assumption of it's performance.

Yea a 5770 is a nice card! find a voltage tweaking version and OC it to almost 5850 speeds and you have a sweet running DX 11 card

Buying a 5770 today, is the worst thing anyone can do in my opinion, its slower then a 4870. Its one of the slowest card you can buy right now. I would not recommend anyone getting one.

It might be a good card for a HTPC as it consumes little power and dont make so much heat, but gaming pc? f*ck no.

They will last just fine man. Bottom line is all we play is ports. 6870 is a waste of money. By the time something strains that thing you will need a new rig. 5770 is damn near over kill for that resolution.

I have a little overclockt 5770, and play all games at 1920x1080, most of them at highest settings... I don't understand how someone could say for such card that is worst thing, especially for 100$... My advice, bye this card, save some money, and wait until next 7xxx generation, I fell they will be much faster compared to 6xxx series, since they will be built in new technology...

by most review standards, the 5770 performs identical to a 4870 1gb and sometimes ahead by a frame or two but when you involve a 5770 that has voltage control then you can OC these cards VERY high and will surpass a 4870 like its nobody's business. 5770 is NOT the worst card anyone could buy, the worse card someone could buy ATM would be a low DX 10 card cause there still over priced.

Thats what Ive been telling everyone. This GPU gen. is all fail from both camps. I am waiting on a refined 7xxx series and Nvidias refined 6xx series. Oh and that cat in your avy looks just like my old one. I had a persian that looked just like that. I miss the old girl.

And here is some benchmarks showing what the 5770 is "capable" of.... its not impressive at all. Its shit . Period.

Do you really realize how bad that card is? yes, it might RUN the games, but on good settings? NO. Its not a card made for GAMERS. its a freakin BELOW mainstream card.

SIGH. i cant believe i just did this research to SHOW you how bad the 5770 really is compared to the others.

Keep in mind that 6870 is almost as fast as a gtx470 for reference.

All of those graphs show ____UNPLAYABLE____ framerates in ___low resolutions___.

Joey wants a card that will last 2years.... you SERIOUSLY think a 5770 will last 2years??????? it cant hold up TODAY. or YESTERDAY.

i need air.... sometimes some people just make my brain go out of control.... breath cratzky, breath...

Ok let me make this simple.

1. Half those images you posted are benchmarks. Can you play a benchmark?
2. He isn't playing at ANY of those resolutions.
3. The frame rates that were posted in those images are all playable. Consoles only run at 30FPS. Most of those were mid 40s and 50s at a HIGHER RESOLUTION then what he has.
4. Get your stats from TPU. Anything less I call BS on.

I ain't trying to bust your balls man but you REALLY don't know what you are talking about.

Read this...

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/HIS/HD_5770/

Then maybe you will understand the 5770 will last longer then two years.

I wont even bother answering that Mailman, you linked a 2years old review with games noone play Today. And even then, the 5770 show low fps. I wont answer in this thread anymore as it just became extremely troll'd.

Saying to someone that wants to play games for the next 2years to buy a 5770 is in my book the stupidest thing ive ever heard.
After a guy who actually asked if the 5770 is faster then 5970... that took the price of stupidity.

okay so no one plays Call of duty 4 thats fine but oh wait Mw2 WAW and Black Ops use the same engine and run about the same so yea that qualifies crysis oh wait that game was in your line of reasoning was it not so obviously no one plays it means your argument using that game as reference is fail. stalker clear sky .. hmm same game engine as used in Pripyt which is DX11 and runs better then Clear sky so thats still viable. Team Fortress 2.. oh wait thats right alot of people still play that game but obviously lets just leave the MILLIONS who play that game out in the cold cause obviously they dont really play it. Also lets not forget the fact that oh wait his resolution is pretty much tiny at 1368x768 which is roughly 1024x 768 in terms of resolution means that pathetic 5770 at his res can offer 40-45fps in god damn Crysis at high settings. but im guessing thats not good enough. Im also gonna guess 80+ fps in Dirt2 isnt good enough im guessing 170fps or better in UT3 isnt good enough.'

lets break this down since its a wall of text

1368x 768 = somewhere around 1024x768 - 1280x1024 resolution with its actual impact being closer to the 1024x768 setting.

5770 1gig offers greater then playable frame rates in every game released today at his resolution.

fact most games are console ports
fact the replacment consoles for the PS3 and 360 are as of now still 3 years away meaning 3 more years of console ports.
fact since console games will remain the same gpu requirments for playable frame rates at his resolution wont change much at all. the only fail is your thinking its not good enough. If i follow your retarded logic obviously your fail because your not running dual 470s so your not uber leet enough.

its pretty simple if the OP is gonna upgrade his monitor any time soon get a better fucking gpu if not get a 5770 and just wait it out for the time being as his current resolution means he can play the console ports we get shoveled all year long without issue.

I'm sorry to say, and I am one of the most unbiased persons you will meet here. These guys are right. At the OP's res, the 5770 will run beautifully.

EDIT:
Hell even a 5770 is overkill for that res.

well this seemed to turn into a flame thread, i am not going 5770 as i going to upgrade and im pretty sure a 5770 in 2 years will perform less then a 6870 in 2 years on a lager monitor... i no u guys were trying to help but i am in no way shape or form going to upgrade from a 9800GTX+ to a 5770...

there pretty much comparable... but if i go to a 6870 that would blow both away by A LOT!
