5970 still so expensive?

    recently i went on tigerdirect.com and search any random 5970 to see if prices have drop, too my eyes i was shock to see one at $812!! why is that happening? would of love to see them much lower than that to pair up with my card..

    The price will drop once it is replaced by the HD6990, but for right now it is still the top dog, so the price is insane. Better off getting two HD6970s, or if you already have the HD5970 and want to pair it, just pick up a cheap HD5870.

    Oh, and by the way, newegg has them for a slightly more reasonable $600.

    You can pick up a used one for $400ish.
