I would recommend a SSD with onboard cache if your gonna install an O/S to it. The cache will drastically improve the random rewrite speed.

I'd skip SSD unless you buy a SLC SSD. Most of the SSD drives flooding the market that are reasonably priced are MLC drives and aren't as fast. IMO not even worth considering. If you want a fast drive then the more expensive SLC SSD is where its at but that performance comes at a steep price. Its too much IMO so I'll wait.
