A friend of mine is gonna make his own PC, and he has a budget of $650.

    He needs:
    -Processor
    -RAM (at least 4gb)
    -GPU
    -HDD
    -ODD
    -PSU
    -Case

He play games casually and doesn't go higher than 900p (1600x900).

    any thought?

    CPU: AMD FX-6300 $120

    Cooler: XIGMATEK Gaia SD1283 $25

    Motherboard: ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 $130

    RAM: 8GB(2x4GB) DDR3-1600 $54

    GPU: Zotax GTX660 2GB AMP! $170

    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500GB $60

ODD: Samsung 24x DVD Burner $15

    PSU: Corsair CX600 $60

    Case: NZXT Source 210 $30

$664, before shipping, slightly over budget but you could drop the CPU cooler if you wanted to bring the total to $639. Though I'd spend a little bit more and go with an FX-8320 with the CPU Cooler, that would bring the total to $689 before shipping.

    For casual gaming I'd take an 1155 i3 instead of a 1150 i5 actually.

Hmm a lot of great combinations here. I'll see if those parts are available here in the phil (and thank heavens the prices here have dropped)

Does he have a copy of Windows already? That's an easy 100 USD if he doesn't.
