I have one MSI 6800GT , and had buy for it the cooler NV5 R2 .

Today i have in order the Sapphire HD3850 AGP.

I found some ppl speaking about 100% compatibility, of 6800 and ATI 3850 at sharing the same coolers .

    http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=14423&vpn=avc-nv5-r2&manufacture=arctic%20cooling

I am thinking to replace the Sapphire cooler with the one of my Nvidia card .
so if i can use the Arctic Cooling NV Silencer on it , it would be great , and saving of cash.

Did any one had any info of success story s about that ?

What is a fact , are that they use the same 4 hole mounting .

What i do not know are if there is sufficient contact with GPU & memory ,
Parts dimensions ? location ? over the PCB.

like littlelizard said it wont work out of the box but if you have any machining experience it is possible.I just took a 9800 pro heat sink and fan and redrilled 1 hole and dremel cut the fins to allow me to bolt it on the heat sink.I hav'nt got my cpu for my new mobo and its pcie so i'm
hoping after some close surgery on drilling the holes bigger that it still works .as far as my
magnifying glass shows i had not drilled out connections.

You won't be able to use it. The 3850 has a bunch of capacitors and mosfet/vreg heatsinks that will get in the way.

Well there are ppl that the ATI GPU are fragile.
The good part are that the "4 hole mounting" had the correct size.

So the metal clip will do the job.

But are many details that require investigation, because the cooler cools down GPU and memory.

I have some :) but when the card arrives i would probably tell , if my experience are good enough for this conversion .
