    Hello, everyone!
Some of you probably already seen the review of Thermalright V1 Ultra GPU heatsink on techPowerUP.(http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Thermalright/V1Ultra/1) Well, I recently decided to buy it. Why? It outperforms Zalman and cost $12! (not everywhere but there are some places...) Not only that, they also seem to revised someof the things and added somethings. Here are some pictures:
And here is the base of the heatsink:
As you can see, I've received more stuff then some other ppl
    [IMG]
    Before:
Here is some strange thing on old heatsink:
    same on the gpu:
During the installation I found that the black mount bracket will touch some of the gpu components because my gpu didn't have shim like W1zzard had on his card. I guessing that it is the reason the included gpu pad, that is a rectangular resin that goes around the gpu and sticks to it. Because the pad is ~3mm high, the black "arms" that are supposed to be tighten to the mount are under and angle. That really others me!
The installation guide is kinda weird, it is separated (because it might be different for many video cards?) and in "main" guide there is no word about the pad. But I still left the pad on GPU...
The Final installation reqires two people if you want to make it nice and clean (or just 1 if you don't really care). My stock fan was giving me 62/76C (idle/load).
When i first loaded PC, the temp were 49C idle. It really surprised me because the heatsink was cold to a touch, I though that the contact was bad (because of the pad), but after re-fastening the temps were the same. Well, good enough for me.
now i get 50/62C idle/load. Later I will check if the temps will be better when the fan is cooling the bottom part.

    BTW, my case

Overall, I 'm pleased with the cooler. Right now my clocks are 560/700. Next for makeover is my 3500+!!! :rockout:

Your case is cleaner than mine

Looks like that cooler could run totally passive.

Are you noticing any increace in performance or overclock since you got it?

yes, it came with plenty of mem heatsinks, even a bunch of 3mm thermal pads and triple copper heatsink with thermal pads for ATi 1900/1800
as for ocing 7600, i'll do it later, no need right now

I can't really oc right now, its summer and pc is on the second floor and it is HOT in here
I don't know how to cool this thing down even with out oc
i bet that if it was on the first floor the temps would be 42/49!:banghead:
I'm stuck here! I already thought of building an air tunnel to the window so i could get a fresh air from the street

so how much did it drop your temps?

mine is an asus one, looks the same just a different sticker on stock cooling, and it sits 49c idle and hits 55/56c after a good game. i have it running 600 core and 1550 mem all the time but it will hit 615/1640 but i dont see the point of pushing it all the time as it only gives 1 or 2 more fps.

i only ask it that wold look nice in my case next to my freezer pro and uc-06.

This cooler dropped about 10C from stock, my stock kept me at 52/66 during winter, and now during summer it 62/76.
It still summer and I get 50/63 and memory heatsinks are HOT to the touch.

    marsey99 says thanks.

Just for reference purposes, my Zaleman VF700Cu keeps my 7600gt 40C idle / 50C load (using RTHDRIBL for about 30 min.) I keep my clocks at 600 core / 800 mem. I also have great case ventilation so that helps quite a bit.

my ventilation is pretty basic = bad
i had to get low noise fans because my stock CPU cooler is like an engine :banghead:
will get some money and will buy ultra 120 extreme or something else

but what i want to do is put psu in front of the case (where the HDD is located, it fits there perfectly), the psu will exhaust hot air trough the front of the case or downward (there are some holes in the bottom of the case)
then take a low noise fan from the back and put it where the psu used to be

    hey man,

Why don't you turn your hdd around so the connectors are facing the back of the facia panel. It will hide the sata cable and power connectors then and will look heaps neater...

    Just an idea for you.

Btw that cooler looks pretty good on that gfx card. All you need now is a freezer 64pro on the cpu..

He couldn't turn the HDD around from the way it looks the fan is in the way. That is why i put my fan between the front(face plate) and the case cuts back on air flow but hell it looks good.
BTW a HSF that doesn't work bad for me but doesn't give me the temps i want is the Asus chilly vent lux it is almost silent but temps aren't great.38c idle when oced(x2 4600+ @2.6ghz@1.37v)

You think that HSF would fit on my 7600GS?

Yes... but its honestly a cumbersome solution. I would go for a VF700ALCU... inexpensive and effective.

But the V1 Ultra goes for $12-18, while the VF700 is $22+, and the V1 Ultra cools better than the Zalman. The only difference is what slot you loose on your motherboard, the one above the card or the one below it.
