So i just ordered the Asus Striker II 780i and i am reading reviews about how the north bridge gets scalding hot. I plan on overclocking quite a bit, and i was wondering if anyone had any solutions to this north bridge heat issue. Is there a good fan that does wonders for this problem? throw em at me! thanks everyone!

Yes, the ASUS 780 Striker II has heat issues. Firstly, you can remove the heatsink arrangements, remove the terrible thermal pastes and re-apply some thermal compound (Arctic Cooling MX-2 is good). That'll reduce the heat a little. Use the supplied chipset fans especially if water cooling. Other than that, the chipset is plainly and simply just hot. Good luck as myself and quite a few other people have had problems with the same board.:)

thank you, if i were to replace the thermal paste, i assume its the same idea as putting thermal paste onto a cpu?

rice size drop? spread, maybe with a credit card?
