I contacted XFX support and told them about the difference in specification.
I am currently running an XFX 6800GT. It will be the last XFX card I ever own.
It was a warranty replacement for a Leadtek 6800GT that suffered from memory corruption. The problem is the card doesn't represent the specs on the box, or the details and pictures on XFX's website. In reality it's an unlocked 6800GS (cheaper, stripped out PCB with no fan control) with really crappy memory. With no speed control, the fan was on 100% all the time and bloody hell it was noisy. I didn't mind too much because I was going to put another cooler on it eventually anyway. But the memory really annoys me. It was advertised on XFX's site (and on the box) as 1GHz, but it is actually 900MHz and won't overclock to 1GHz with full stability.
I contacted XFX support and told them about the difference in specification. They said the card was from a 'budget' line and had been put in the wrong box. But just to add insult to injury, they also said it was a "good enough replacement" and therefore they wouldn't do anything about it.

The supplier (overclockers UK) offered to replace it, which was nice of them considering it wasn't their fault. But I declined because it would have meant another £7.50 to send it back, and another 4 weeks without a card. Plus I need something to hate, keeps me sane.
In the card's defense though, it has been running for about a year. The Leadtek didn't even manage three months.

ThanksThe way they treated you was out of order and I would feel just the same as you m8!
Yeah pretty much. Although I really don't like the particular card I have at the moment. 90% of XFX's cards follow the Nvidia reference design, so quality, reliability and performance will be on par with the other manufacturers. Although XFX only offer a 2 year warranty where most of Nvidia's other partners offer 3So tbh its not the actual XFX cards you dont like, its just the bad customer support.

It doesn't have a proper 6800GT PCB so a flash would probably kill itflash it with a proper 6800gt bios. then see what you can get from it
