Might not be final after all. Read this at the guru3d forum post:

"I don't think this is the official drivers, but guess we'll just have to wait and see. Some other forum user have posted(My thread about the announcement date) and claiming he has been using the official ones for a couple a days now. He says the driver info looks like this: 8.70-091210a-092787E-ATI
    Cat Version: 2009.1210.1956.35755.
If this is true, they are newer than the ones posted from Sapphire. "

Sorry for double posting but, I've been installing and uninstalling ati drivers since i got this card and every time I reboot my computer doesnt restart, it just hangs there so I have to power off the PSU and power it on again then back to normal but its still annoying, just hoping its not a hardware issue, .

The official drivers have not yet been released.
I'm sure that during the next 12 hours or so, they will be.
It's the 16th for us Aussies, but not yet for our American counterparts ;)

As for the reboot issues: I encounter the same issues, but only when I've OCed.. Not sure as to why yet - it might have something to do with the Radeon's BIOS needing a hard-reset to re-adjust?
    Lionheart says thanks.

These may not be official but they sure as hell help. 2000 point gpu score boost in Vantage at much lower clock speeds.

PS. your GPU OC is nuts.

But look at the results now! Only 850MHz to get close to the same gpu score. For more reference here's my card at 875MHz core. My new vantage score at 850MHz is 1669 points higher than 875MHz. I'll overclock later.

With hard reset, I meant what Chaos was referring to: all power off, including the PSU's switch. This way no trace of residual info in any electrical component that's relevant remains.
    Sorry about that

I'm sitting here comparing the 5870s scores overclocked to the 4890s scores that I get here. However, that's a 5850 isn't it.. 1440 instead of 1600streaming processors?

Essentially the memory bandwidth is about the same +-

And when you add the fill rates of two cards they just about equal one.

Which confirms my thinking that a 5870 is about the same as two 4890s in processing power. We'll have to wait and see if the 384 bit ram comes out with a 5890 before we see a real increase in bandwidth.

They better bring out a 2GB version of the HD5890, that 384bit memory bus sounds good to me as well:D

lol I'll let you know if they are:toast:

No stability issues so far. I've played a round of Crysis Wars, Boarderlands, Mass Effect, and now I'm chilling and drawing.

I don't know, I lock my fps at 60. I usually only see improvements in benchmarks.

After searching around 9.12's should be reading:

    Driver Packaging Version: 8.70-091210a-092787E-ATI
    Cat Version: 2009.1210.1956.35755.

I honestly don't know it to be true or false, but I wouldn't think a driver with a release date of 12/16/2009 would have a Catalyst Version from 11/24/2009. I don't think these are final drivers.

just had a play through in crysis, all i can say is its really glitchy not stop stutters and lags when guns are firing, not sure if its the drivers or if its the video card itself, i still get reboot hang ups and its extremely annoying, my thoughts on the HD5970 so far is that it is a pain in the arse of a card, I dont even have fan control on these drivers as well :wtf:, amd better do something about this cause Im running out of options:banghead:
