need vmod already....

what's taking so long, is it cause your card is 3 days old... what's your stock voltages?:)

goona pull the stock cooler and mount the V.2, see if it makes much of difference. My cooler seems to be bigger and more quiet than the reference. Will take pics and post when I am done... may need to get some more ram sinks though...

I got one of those faulty Evga cards that produce those infamouse black screens of death. so I'm running it at 750/1900/2100 but any higher on the shader/core will bug the card out unfortunately =/

wish I went with XFX or someone else >.<

well mine makes a horrible noise when running ati tool, much much worse than the 8800GT's little "squeal" so today ima take it back and either exchange it for another 9600GT or move up to the gigabyte 8800GT with Zalman and onbaord vmods :D, that way i can SLi my 8800's down the track too.....

Well I'm up to 810/1950/1100 (2200 effective)...no issues thus far, but that's just some gaming, ATI Tool artifact scanning...fan speed at 55%, temps haven't changed yet, still 32C idle and 46C load so I'm happy! I'll see how much further I can push, it got to this level with relative ease...no freezing, artifacting, crashing of any sort! Woot!

further yet...

K, decided I might want to try my oc with cooling maxed throughout the case(I'm always concened about noise). this is what I've managed so far:

E6750 @ 3.52 29C - 48C
Corsair PC26400 @ 880 2x2G 5 6 6 22
9600GT @ 828/2072/1160(2320 effective) 36C- 57C
(GPU 1.17 - 1.21 V, gmem 2.12 V, no mods)
12413 3dmark 06
no errors or visable artifacts in atitool or bench
the timings still could be adjusted a bit though
hmmm... how much farther...:rockout:

too funny

I'm one uping myself how far you all want to push is up to you. I figure I have higher voltages from the factory(and I realized the gpu fan was set at 35%) so ... push harder lol. I have to go back to your 8600 thread and read through the bios mod info again, familiarize myself with the procedure. I'm just having fun...

anything past 2200mhz mem makes any 3d app go nuts my limit is currently 740/1900/1100 i can push the shaders to 2 grand and stable but mem has to come back down to 1000 thats why i think its a power draw issue. i know shaders help more but with my games at max im soaking up gmem so i increased the speed of those and reduced the shaders im willing to take the lesser fps as long as the fps are non fluctuating

EDIT: another reason i might be getting instability is the fact that i did a timing mod so my ram preforms better infact i know thats prob it :p

ah yes the art of comprimise and working with what ya got (till ya can get more). Does anyone know which versions of the 9600gt come with the full length cooler?

timings

I'm running factory timings with this oc, think there is much point in playing with them?

and I had one of those frankenstein thoughts, depending how ram is laid out, cutting out the section for the gpu and adding my v2 could be very effecttive at cooling all parts of the card. will have to open it up and see what's going on inside. :D

um...well timings lower than stiock imo is always a good thing but you dont really see anydiff...only a benchmark score will go up a little but low timings can take away from how far you can clock it and if myou can clock it far you already have the best you can get imo...for example your at 1160 if you lower the timings you may only be able to get 1100 or so and that will actually lower the score so it isnt worth it but if you lower the timings and keep 1160 stable it will go up a little.

this latest oc is producing fabulous graphics. Seems to be more stable than lower mem clocks.:toast:

3dmarks

I'd like to break 13000 marks but I'm pretty sure that will require some 1333 ram and a gpu v/vid modification.:banghead:
