Excellent review as always DS. One thing about that though, seems kind of high for a HDD DVR player. I mean WD has a media TV that does HD and its a bit cheaper. I do like the plethora of outputs, but I worry about heat. Nice to see it doesn't use a lot of cpu power and interesting to see its transfer speeds with USB 2.0. Thanks.

Heat is not an issue, and this puppy has everything from dual tuners to NAS to multiple input to extremely easy recording of TV with the press of a button (something i did not underline that much in the review).

Sure the WD does manages to play formats like MKV and VOBs, but does not have the inputs and tuners of the AC Ryan.

So both products are valid options, it just depends what you want to do with it.

I have to admit, that the sluggish menu was almost bad enough for me to remove the award...that may be a deal breaker for some.

    cheers
    DS

So it has ATSC and NTSC tuners? How about QAM?

    Too bad about the "sluggishness".
