on hexus's i7 930 review they said this

i thought thats coming out april/may? the i7980x that is
If he doesn't say anything, it's because he's keeping his word. Must maintain integrity.
the phenom II x6 is coming out may though. (isn't it?)
The Westmere 6-core 32nm process is releasing on March 16, if memory serves. The NDA could be lifting sooner than that though (if there is one)...
6 x 3.33 GHz (12 threads) would be able to best 4 x 4.00 GHz quite easily...
Apparently Thuban may release April 26th alongside the 890 chipset. It might be too early for a preview/review for that, so this is most likely for a new i7 or i9 chip.
Even more likely it's the i9 then.
AMD is not beating Intel anytime soon (sadly enough!) so I am gonna say 90% chance Core i9.
And I forgot Turbo...
6 x 3.466 GHz = 20.796
4 x 4.000 GHz = 16.000
29.975% faster if all cores are put to work.
oh snap. that's alot earlier than i thought. if that's true then its pretty plausible to lift the NDA sooner to increase interest.
No such thing, good Sir. Just press guessing.
The Core i9 is not a new micro-architecture. It is simply a Six-core Ci7 on a 32nm die. Just as AMD's next move is a Six-core Phenom II on a 32nm die. I can't wait to hear new information about AMD's "bulldozer" chips. Which are supposed to be a brand new micro-architecture and platform.
