I asked this question over at another hardware site recently, not to mention googled it - will an already used OEM copy of Windows 7 work with a new motherboard? The person on the hardware site forum said it would, the results on Google were mixed. So I'm here asking on a 2nd opinion. If you look at my System Specs, you'll see I'm running an FX 6100 and Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 mobo at the moment, and that I'm going to be moving to an Intel i5 4690K and Gigabyte GA-G1.Sniper Z5S mobo soon. Obviously, my OEM copy of Windows 7 has already been "linked" to my current mobo - and I have a question about that later - and according to Microsoft, all other components of the PC can be replaced and still use OEM Windows 7 EXCEPT the motherboard, which they consider a "new PC" if it's swapped out. So, my question is, do I really have to buy another copy of Windows 7 if I replace my motherboard?
Also, I'm probably going to be selling my current mobo once I get the new one. Do I have to do anything before selling it?
Thanks guys
