Ruling out things is necessary. Start with as few components as possible. Go back to stock it you are OC'ed (if you haven't already). Start with memtest and make sure that's fine. The check your power reading and make sure you voltages aren't failing on your PSU. You can do this fairly easily with OCCT and letting it crunch for an hour or so. If everything seems fine, start adding stuff in one at a time and repeat. Do everything one at a time until you add something and it doesn't work right. That will probably point to your issue, unless it's a combination of things.

that sounds shockingly after my experiences... especially the back screen and the audio part... i have 2 soundcards, that, after a while built in, say to me: "im not detectable anymore (soundblaster Live),or i make "RSHHSHSH" (ultron)

i thought about wcg producing system errors... it cant be, that many people share RANDOM issues?

I just did 1 1/2 pass of memtest, about 1.2 hours. No errors. We can rule out mem.

Just like I said a couple of posts back. This is the best way to isolate any hardware issues. Sometimes when I'm having hardware issues, I'll even sit down and do a flow chart of the possible causes and solutions.

This might seem silly but check your mobo real closely for any lose connection, screws or grounds.

A long time ago I had crazy problems with my mobo and then I found a screw on top of a PCI card that was hard to see.. it caused a short and things got whacky. Once I removed the screw the system became happy.

Thats what I'm doing right now. For some reason Linx stopped working, it starts up but doesn't put any load. So now Intel Burn test says it fails at 211 seconds even at defaults.

However, I have been running the linpack in OCCT for much longer than that and it has not failed. Any suggestions? Maybe intel burn test is just being picky in some sorta way?

sounds silly but very possible. It's not the first time I find a screw on top of a mobo. I'll check now

Is there a guide or a how to on how to properly check voltages to see if the PSU is good? I guess that's next to try before I put the 9800GX2 back in there.

Yeah. you will generally need a multimeter, or a PSU tester like this:

A multimeter is usually cheaper.

No, that is not an accurate and trustworthy method.

Maybe not accurate but he can just use it to check in the meantime. Who knows maybe he will see something in there that is severe?

My opinion is that to properly test a PSU it needs to be under load. So the best way to test a PSU is to swap it out!

Ill at least test it that way. I mean if with it like that it doesn't provide enough voltage then there you have it

Well guys I have just tested the PSU at least off load. Everything is well within specs. tested the molex connectors, cpu 8 pin and the 24 pin. So I will uninstall all the ati drivers and give the 9800gx2 a go with no soundcard. Wish me luck!

ok further update. GX2 is in, drivers installed Ran Furmark for about 7 minutes. Fan at 100% temps still reach by core 101/103ºc

So far CPU tests fine/RAM/PSU/video card.

So looks like it was the sound card causing trouble. If I continue to have issues without the sound card, then i say blame the mobo. However, depends because if I have issues when running something that is cpu/gpu intensive like 3dmark or some games then the PSU can still be culprit. It might have tested fine without load, but with load you never know. I'll keep you guys posted and thanks a million for everybody who pitched in some info/advise. TPU is the s**t!

Thanks bro. I am still iffy, don't wanna celebrate too soon. Every time I do something else acts up. I'll let it run for a few days. If everything is fine then I'll replace the TIM with some AS5 I have here .

I will let it run for a bit. Once I confirm it's ok then I will try sound card with newer drivers ( was using beta drivers which at first were fine). If new drivers don't work then I will try a different PCI slot. If that don't work I just won't be able to use it at all
