ok the sitch: im looking for a better socket A mobo problem.... my cpu is running 453 pins no prob ill be able to use it right? sure it says this (my current mobo) is Socket A and the cpu only has 453 so it shouldnt be a prob. ur question will the cpu work?....the BIGGEST prob.....im currently using SDRAM PC-133.......what the F#^$ is DDR i bought a DDR stick by accident will NOT fit. but all the BETTER socket A's i see use this :shadedshu i ...MY problem is i dont know if my ram will work it cost some $ so if it doesnt work ill be angry......this is the main problem...and the ONLY reason i am looking for a better mobo is to get a measly ...1...AGP 8X slot thats it thats all i whant 3pci slots and...1....agp 8X slot...

Its missing 9 pins... that can't be good.

And I don't think I get you right, but you're looking for a better problem? :ohwell:

PC133 won't fit in a DDR slot... You need DDR ram, as the name implies ;)

And Socket A CPU's are supposed to have 462 pins... but whatever lol.

Let's see if I get this right. You have a Socket A board that uses SDRAM and (likely) has 2x or 4x AGP but you'd like one that has 8x AGP and DDR so that you can use the DDR stick you bought by accident on it yet still be able to use your old SDRAM stick(s) because ram is expensive?

Like ChAce said above SDRAM won't work in a DDR slot, it won't even fit. As far as I know all Socket A boards on the market today use DDR which btw usually costs less than SDRAM now. If you buy a new Socket A board it will probably be able to handle DDR up to PC3200 specs (200/400Mhz DDR) and feature a 400Mhz bus.

Such a board will handle your DDR stick even if it's not PC3200 and your CPU even if it doesn't have 400MHz fsb (as far as I know the only Socket A CPU's that have stock 400Mhz bus are the XP 3200+ and a few XP 3000+'s) unless it's a pre-Thoroughbred CPU or Duron in which case it may not work, so be careful to check for compatibility if you have a Palomino, T-Bird or Duron. Also these boards all have 8X AGP so you can use any AGP card you fancy on them.

But unfortunately you won't won't be able to use you PC-133 ram sticks on a new Socket A board so better forget about them. But generic DDR doesn't cost much.

You have a Socket A board that uses SDRAM and (likely) has 2x or 4x AGP...correct

but you'd like one that has 8x AGP:....correct( so i can use an agp graphics card now im running agp 4x i have no agp slot i think its telling me this because my intigrated is running it.

and DDR so that you can use the DDR stick you bought by accident:....no i returned my ddr stick and got the eqivilent of sdram i whant one(a mobo) that supports agp 8x and has sdram banks

because ram is expensive?:...yes after buying both my 256 sticks my wallet is running low...then i lost my job :)

Damn, I don't even know if there are boards in existance that support both AGP 8x and SDRAM :ohwell:
