Adapter & Driver Issues

New laptop w/NVIDIA 820M; came w/ Win 8.1 & Intel, installed old HDD w/Win-7-64 (which was AMD based)
Uninstalled all software etc relating to old laptop.
Under display adapters two are indicated, NVIDIA GeForce 820M shows as installed without issues but Intel HD Graphics "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)". Issue persists even after uninstalling NVIDIA drivers. In either case, under Display, advanced-adapter properties I get:
Adapter Type:

Adapter Information
Chiptype: <unavailable>
DAC type: <unavailable>
Adapter String: <unavailable>
Bios Information:<unavailable>

Total Available Graphics Memory
Dedicated Video Memory: n/a
System Video Memory: n/a
Shared System Memory: n/a

After much useless effort, I've concluded that the issues revolve around IRQ conflicts. Somewhere in the bowels of the machine is something that is identifying it as an AMD processor. Device Mgr will not allow me to change resources. I'm thinking to try to uninstall all devices and let Windoz install them anew. Is it worth a shot? Or might there be a better way short of re-installing Windoz?

Go back to W8.1 and the original drive. You will also have to reactivate windows 7 if you continue

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I did install the Intel drivers & My Computer-Properties does show it as Intel. Network diagnostics is the proggie that shows the architecture as amd64, which is kinda weird.
I would consider Win 8.1 but the thought of re-installing all my software is daunting. MS doesn't offer a process of upgrading from Win7 to Win 8 (a really dumb decision IMHO). I've tweaked & tuned Win 7 to just where I like it and really hate the idea of just tossing it. PCMover might work for an upgrade but I'ld have to use the new HDD for the install source; and, as I have "My Documents" on a seperate partition, the upgrade wouldn't work anyway(thx MS).

Your architecture is AMD64 since the 64bit platform was pioneered by AMD.

Well. I guess we can close this issue. The problem was a short - between the keyboard & the seat. I restored everything back to the beginning and went thru the set-up a second time. I had neglected to uninstall some drivers originally, once that was done everything went thru without a hitch. My only issue now is connectivity - I can only connect to the net in Safe Mode. I'm sure it's just something I overlooked again. Thanks for all your help & suggestions.
