New laptop w/NVIDIA 820M; came w/ Win 8.1 & Intel, installed old HDD w/Win-7-64 (which was AMD based)
Uninstalled all software etc relating to old laptop.
Under display adapters two are indicated, NVIDIA GeForce 820M shows as installed without issues but Intel HD Graphics "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)". Issue persists even after uninstalling NVIDIA drivers. In either case, under Display, advanced-adapter properties I get:
Adapter Type:
Adapter Information
Chiptype: <unavailable>
DAC type: <unavailable>
Adapter String: <unavailable>
Bios Information:<unavailable>
Total Available Graphics Memory
Dedicated Video Memory: n/a
System Video Memory: n/a
Shared System Memory: n/a
After much useless effort, I've concluded that the issues revolve around IRQ conflicts. Somewhere in the bowels of the machine is something that is identifying it as an AMD processor. Device Mgr will not allow me to change resources. I'm thinking to try to uninstall all devices and let Windoz install them anew. Is it worth a shot? Or might there be a better way short of re-installing Windoz?
