looks like you need to power the IDE somehow. Plugging the sata power into that adapter wont add power through the IDE connection.

that looks like its meant for running IDE drives on a sata port I assume you plug the sata data cable and a sata power connector into the board and then plug the board into the IDE Drive + the molex power connector .... waste of time and its gonna be slow ...
good enough if you just wanna grab the data off the drives .. I would't rely on it tho .....

These drives will be mainly for storage. But if you guys look closer aren't sata cables l shaped. The one I see is completely flat.

I've used these (similar adapters) in m-ITX cases....pretty much they are all cheap, it never seemed to stop them from working.

But I wont have any problem it they are sole used as for storing documents and other stuff right?
I just hope that when transferring things from my master drive to the storage drives using the adapter that it will make them corrupted.
I used to use those usb extender, and I would always have corrupted files afterwards.

Yea, I rather sacrafice having the cheap adapter than ruin my airflow having those huge ide cables. It will honestly make my rig look nasty afterwards. I have this -->APEX PC-389-C Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer C... and I really dont have much space.

Edit: I also have a GTX 460 which will most likely span all the way near the HDD slots.

The adapter you purchased will only work for 2.5" IDE laptop hard drives. If that's that you are using it for, then yes, simply apply standard SATA power and data cables and it should work (and power the drive via SATA power). 2.5" and 3.5" IDE drives have much different connectors, but all SATA hard drives (excluding slim laptop optical SATA drives) are intercompatible.

Yea, I managed to get only a 160GB used Sata for 22 dollars. Using that as my OS drive as I know those old IDE HDD will bootleg my system.

No, the HDD is a 3.5 HDD. This is for my build. Shouldn't the adapter work just like a external HDD?

So the adapter wont work for the 3.5 HDD?
I assume that 2.5 and 3.5 have the same format but just different in size.

Edit: I see. I must cancel the order then. Can you suggest any adapters that is small like the one I mentioned? The ones I found are quite bulky. I found this one -->http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bidirection...795?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aa2033003, but that will most definitely be in the way if I inserted my GTX 460.

I wish that was the one. But if you look at the pins on the adapter, it should be hollow instead of having pins. Because the harddrives has pins the adapter should be hollow (dont know which one is male or female, so i just say hollow).
