Exactly! It's all relative. Console gamers have a low standard which is why they go all goo goo ga ga over titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. We PC gamers point and laugh at their overly simple sources of entertainment. The "glorious PC gaming master race" is hard to satisfy, so they cater to the peasants. It makes perfect sense. :D

Honestly, I can kind of agree. There hasn't been a successful survival horror on PC yet. That is one genre that consoles have nailed to the wall. Not really all that disappointed, it should rock on the 360.
The genre started with Alone in the Dark/7th Guest and titles like F.E.A.R. and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. show the horror genre is still very much alive. This is just Microsoft making sure Xbox survives, no matter the cost.

Whatever!

And Resident Evil, the most successful survival-horror franchise had nothing to do with it? Alone In The Dark may have kickstarted the genre, but RE surpassed it years ago.

The 360 will survive no matter what. As long as consoles get cheaper and PC gaming gets more expensive, it will do just fine.

cause sheer sales define the importance of a game inside a genre and what it does for the genre? By that logic MW2 is the sole reason that the action/FPS genre exist :wtf: FordGT90Concept was trying to say the genre started on pc, and is still very much alive on pc. I myself just bought stalker:CoP about 4 hours ago.

Resident Evil (1996) didn't come until four years after Alone in the Dark (1992).

The price of both platforms is relatively constant due to Moore's Law; however, PCs evolve daily while consoles evolve every 5-6 years. PCs dominate consoles in every regard except price right now because we are 3-4 years into the previous generation of consoles. For example, I play Mass Effect 2 at 1920x1200 (Dynamic Shadows, Light Environment Shadows, 3 Cinemetic Lights, Spherical Harmonic Lighting, and 16x AF) while Xbox 360 can only manage 720p. The game runs smooth as butter (in fact, better than Mass Effect with similar settings).

Yeah, it started with Alone in the dark, but honestly, the PS1 made survival horror with Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Clock tower. I don't really class F.E.A.R, stalker, and Bioshock with survival horror. That is a mix breed of a FPS and horror. When I think survival horror, I think third person, small inventories, low ammo, and bad camera angles.

LOL, Im not debating PC vs console because thats just dumb (a good PC will always be the better of the two). All Im saying is that console gaming will continue to grow whilst PC gaming has fizzled out (not totally, obviously) due to high costs of PC components and lack of titles.

And your comparing your, what, 2k rig to an ageing £100 console :shadedshu

Quick, easy, inexpensive gaming = console.

Gaming elitest and bragging rights (e-penis) = High-end PC gaming rig ;)

PS: Im just messing with you! PC games with all the eye candy on are awesome....when on the right setup ;)

Sure, consoles are inexpensive, but the games are a tenner more a pop (the real reason microsoft made this, and many other games exclusive to xbox, and no, that extra money dosent go to the games developers)

That depends where you get the game from really. But no, the extra cash doesnt go to the game developers, it goes to the retailer and publisher, mostly the retailer because they are the ones that determine the price.

Right back to the joke Triprift posted: the peasants just want to stick a disk in something, pick up a remote, and play it. The master race doesn't mind tweaking for perfection.

At the end of the day, it comes down to money. Console games sell for more per unit and they move more product. The master race is killing the master race by having standards that are too high for the industry. That, or the peasants don't mind having their wallet robbed and the industry gets away with thievery.

In the end, it bodes well for no one except the industry: they are making a lot of money (even during a global recession).

Edit: I've never purchased wholesale so I don't know how much the publisher is getting compared to MSRP.

First they show off the game as a tech demo for windows and multi-cores, then they brag about how the game will take advantage of DirectX10 hardware for all kinds of effects.

And then, some months before the game is released, they announce it as a X360 exclusive game.

Well, this further proves how much of a mess is going on at Microsoft's management.

I read in an interview that Microsoft's management is a crap hole right now. All the executives are fighting like dogs for higher influence for their own department and no one thinks of the company as a whole anymore.

The guys over at the X360 department probably have more influence than the ones at the Windows Games department, and convinced the big bosses that Microsoft would make more money if the game is a X360 exclusive.

Honestly, this is just another game that's been delayed into a state of "no-one-gives-a-s**t-anymore".
Everything technically "new" that they showed in the 2006 demo (atmospheric changes, havoc physics, etc) has been used in many games already.
Now it's just another survival horror in a console, bleh. It won't be any better than Resident Evil 5 or Silent Hill: Homecoming.

"Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen,"

Yeah, because it's impossible for people to hook up their computer to their larger TV, and use a controller to get the exact same effect...dumbasses...

They just want to make it Xbox360 because the PS3 kicked the Xbox360's ass over the holiday season, and has virtually caught up with the Xbox360 in total number of consoles sold(and that doesn't consider the number of Xbox360's that have been bought twice or more due to faulty consoles).

DARN. Years ago I was so happy when one of Alan Wake developers said it was being built around the Core 2 Quad. At that time I had just bought my Q6600 and was eager to see what the game will do to it.
Now all I got are silly excuses from the very company who promised us that our upgrades will be worth the wait and money.

"Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC," :

* ACES Game Studio: Microsoft Flight Simulator series, Combat Flight Simulator series and Microsoft Train Simulator series. Closed
* Ensemble Studios: Age of Empires series, Age of Mythology, Halo Wars. Disbanded.
* Carbonated Games: Developed for MSN Games and Windows Live Messenger. Disbanded.
* Digital Anvil: Brute Force, Freelancer. Disbanded.
* Hired Gun: Halo 2 for Windows Vista. Disbanded.
* FASA Studio: MechWarrior series. Disbanded.
* Indie Built: Amped series, Links series, Top Spin series. Sold off to Take-Two Interactive, now disbanded.

Agreed. Please don't say PC peasants anymore...I used to buy a games magazine that touches on all platforms. I took me a while to realize that it put the PC games reviews in the "PC Tavern" category and the console reviews in the "Console Keep"...I was insulted, in a way. Luckily the mag have great feature stories and PC hardware reviews so I kept quite.

It had stopped using the insulting category titles. But after an issue about Star Wars The Force Unleashed and Battlefield Bad Company not coming to the PC, I stopped buying the mag since. Plus, there was no PC review in that issue....

Sorry, just ranting here....

How about everyone play what platform they want and not have to go through people bitching about how there platform is inferior. It's about games, so as long as the platform you pick has the games and features you want, then why should it matter what the person next to you is gaming on. They don't have the same wants/needs as you, so get over it.

I know its a stupid thing to think about, but it just may work.(yet never will)
