Looking back at this, years and years later, i have to admit that this card turned out to be a major game changer.
The 8800GTX was a significant increase over anything prior and still to this day there has not been such an increase between 2 series.
Fantastic card, great power for its time.
I fortunately never had the model with the recall issue. My Asus 8800GTX is actually still running in a machine i built for my nephew a few years back. The only thing i ever did to it, was customize the cooler because the default one was too poor to cool the beast.
