I just found an Alpine 7 I forgot I had in my room that's brand new.

I've done some googling and it seems that it is intended to be a damn near silent cooler versus a "cooler" cooler. Some places claim the temps were almost the same as stock but the noise was eliminated, but they also weren't all on tech forums such as this.

I also noticed that the surface contacting the CPU is very rough, so I'd definitely lap it before I installed it.

So does anyone have any experience with either (as they're pretty much the same thing)? What happened to your CPU temps? Also, did you overclock with it?

they r virtually silent, but they need to be in a case with good airflow. in the system i used them in cpu temps rose about 1 degree celcius over the stock cooler but it did make the system a lot quieter. i would advise against anything but maybe a 5% oc. if you hav to up the voltages or anything it will get hot really fast.

i hav 1 of each, the alpine 64 and alpine 7 are identical except the 7 comes with an intel base plate also.
