and the point of using like 970 is to make board with lower price
in other words just to offer newer features with old platform

if they got the money they gonna buy new socket with new board

Isn't the 970 non-sli and only slow crossfire? (ie 1x16 + 1x4)
Cheaper version of 990 (as mentioned).
OC's OK but not too extreme.

The AM3+ platform has become a budget line, and the 970 chipset is cheap. So it only makes sense that 970 will be the primary focus now. And there are 970 boards that can run SLI, but getting SLI support costs extra(licensing fee to nVidia as well as extra cost for a more complex design), so not a lot of boards have it.

What does 970 lack that a basic office computer needs possibly one with a mild video card and midrange cpu? Sounds like a good budget build, for under $120 you can get a half decent motherboard/CPU combo.
