Looking to help a friend with a small time budget upgrade. Unfortunately I have pretty stringent requirements I'm currently running an am3+ on an older sata II board.

Looking for an AM3+ board with the following specs:

MicroATX
USB3.0
Sata III 6gbs

If you happen to have anything like this that you are willing to part with inexpensively, please let post here or drop me a pm.

Good matx am3+ boards are hard to find unless you're happy with a 760G chipset. Biostar has an 880G still available on Newegg, otherwise the MSI 890GX with a BIOS update will easily support the AM3+ cpu's (sometimes easily found on Ebay/Amazon).

Biostar A880GZ is about the best mATX AM3+ board out there (supports up to 125w cpu's including the FX-8350)

They're not perfect but they get the job done... I'm running 2 of them ATM and just sold a 3rd one. You can get them brand new from $50-65.00 or so depending on where you look.

Tried ebay. most of them are just as expensive, if not more expensive than newegg and tigerdirect. :(

yeah, I'm starting to realize that AM3+ 880G units were in and out of fashion unusually fast. Almost everything i can find with those specs at a reasonable price is all FM socket stuff.

Unfortunately they don't seem to have USB3.0 :(

If your current board is still good and it has few expansion options why not try out SATA III and USB 3.0 add-on cards?

The board in question only has one pcie 1x expansion and one 16x slot. Buying both a sata 6gbs card and usb3 card will set him back 40-60 dollars for the set; Well near the cost of a new board...if he could find one....
