"With the launch of AMD’s Radeon 300 series GPU imminent, some pricing and specification details have leaked out. Sweclockers was able to find aleak detailing the pricing for a large number of 300 series GPU. Somewhat unexpectedly, the prices quoted by Sweclockers are a bit higher than the prices the original chips launched at. However, once we take away the VAT which is 25% in Sweden, the prices are much more reasonable, especially once you consider the current street price. The table above is after conversion from SEK to USD and with VAT subtracted."

HBM =/= 8GB. I assume that is the pricing for the 8GB GDDR5 model of 390X.

There's a sale at Newegg today that might offer some validity to this. They have the ASUS Strix GeForce GTX 980 for $510 - 4%($20) promo - $20 MIR= $470! That's the lowest price ever at PCPartpicker (although prices have dropped since the 1st of the month). I believe that sales like this are indicators of future pricing.

If it was a 390x, they would have got into very serious trouble with AMD.

These prices were derrived from an ealier supposed leak from sweclockers in krona that includes VAT. EU pricing that includes VAT at the $500 level is generally $100 more than US pricing.

390x is based on likely hawaii. there won't be 8gb HBM fiji card for many months yet. Plus NO chance in heck HBM card is gonna be that cheap not least for a year or 2.

390/x is Grenada which is respun Hawaii supposedly with GCN 1.2 compliance..

Thats pretty much been confirmed from earlier AMD road maps.

Well seeing as how Grenada is Hawaii upgraded with tonga level features and improvements with 8gb gddr5 it does not surprise me the prices are such. Depending on how much of an improvement it brings it could be good for that price.

Though overall, I want to see the benches in person and reserve my judgement until then.

That card looks massive and the whole point of HBM is to make cards smaller without sacrificing anything. If that were a 390X, I'd be concerned it doesn't use HBM. I'm inclined to believe Greneda at least has HBM.

HBM should be cheaper to manufacturer than GDDR5. I suspect the delays with the launch were to get supply going so they don't have to charge an arm and a leg for HBM.

390/390x is a Hawai refresh (Grenada). Fiji (the one with HBM) will be named Radeon Fury. The HBM cards aren't in the table.


edit: The 4GB 370 card has me wondering if AMD is going to clock Pitcairn to >1.2Ghz or something I mean, I loved my 7870, I still have it on a secondary gaming rig (for visits and LAN parties) but I'd think the 4GB would be superflous unless AMD seriously cranked up the clock speeds.

Those prices seem fake. But if AMD really wants to get back some market share, prices around those level (a little higher), will be necessary.

So they're gonna do the rehash route. Disappointing. Specially since I could pick up a 290X for much less, then clock it up. There is an 8GB model of the 290X too atm. Now the 12_1 stuff hits too. Heck, might just sit on these 460s till next year at this rate. No way in heck I'm gonna blow a ton of money on a nVidia overpriced GPU just to get 12_1.

Unless AMD runs a heck of a deal or promotion, nuts to the 300 series. For that matter if it was gonna be rehash city, no freaken reason for AMD to have sat so long on the 300s. Wait till June? Come on AMD. Freaken stupid if all you were going to do was more of the same.
