Hi,
I just wanted to write something about my new HTPC system for my living room which has the following specs:
APU: AMD A10 7850K
CPU Cooler: Noctua L9a
Motherboard: Asrock FM2A88x-ITX+
RAM: 8GB 2400MHZ G.skill Aries Low Profile
SSD: 256GB Samsung 830
Tuner Card: TBS 6281
Chasis: Silverstone ML06
After using this machine for the last couple of weeks for watching/recording tv, gaming and generally everyting I would typically use my PC for I have to say I would highly recommend this APU.
When playing games like BF4, Hitman, COD, Skyrim at 1080p with medium details its just smooth gameplay the whole time with FPS around the mid 30s.
I was really surprised as I thought with that CPU Cooler it would be difficult to keep the temps in check, as it is only rated for a 65W CPU. However I have found the temps rarely go above 55 degrees and only then when gaming for a long time.
I just wanted to relay my expierience with this setup and am very pleased with how well it performs, plus as things will only get better with new drivers there should be more performance to come. I find that at the moment I'm using this system more than my main i5 4760k R9 290 setup, which uses about 3 times the power.
