AMD APU issue power on, sleep (solved)

This is probably a rant. But maybe you can think of something I haven't. Maybe I looking for a reason to switch my last AMD board to Intel.

2 year old ASRock FM2A85X-ITX. Its my HTPC in my living room and my server for the house. CPU is an A10-6800 no overclock. The most resent problem is if you shut it down it wont start back up. Even if you power it down or reset the BIOS. Un plug and plug back in some time it will start. Let it sit also helps. I thought PSU pulled it out Seasonic G550 was going to RMA it. Got it on the bench and test it. Works fine. Put it back worked for awhile problem returned. Latest BIOS. BIOS reset doesn't work sometimes. You have to mess with it. Another issue Hit the sleep power button and it will not wake back up. Even if you un plug it. It just resume sleep mode. I don't know how I fixed that but its running for now. Pain in the ass. I'm ordering an Intel board. Unless you have an idea.

This seems more indicative of a flaky board than an AMD issue. I've had a number of APU systems (A10-5800B) and they've all done a stellar job for their intended use purpose. Why not RMA the board, or try another one?

I just checked its still under warranty acording to Newegg 3 year. ASRock says one year to authorized dealers. I'm just tied of this board

I had issues from the gate with this board. Mostly the BIOS was awful. It is slow to boot. Sometimes it does this count down 9 -1 then boots. I e mailed them. Will see what they say

ASRock e mailed me back. They will replace the board he said. I have to wait for the RMA department to contact me.

Asrock boards are well asrock boards. I am not a huge fan I already blew up the one I got within a couple of days.

Update: got it apart and tested everything on the bench. I's the Seasonic G 550. Sometimes it starts sometimes it doesn't. More often it doesn't. Still under warranty so ill send it in.

I take back everything I was complaining about AMD. I threw in another PSU Enermax 350 and everything works perfect. Its nice to have sleep mode back *^@#! Seasonic

Well, I'm surprised to see a Seasonic fail on you--I've had nothing but excellent luck with them. I'm glad it's still under warranty!

I think Ill leave the Enermax 350w in it. I hooked up a watt meter and its only pulls 210w with all the fans full and running OCCT Power supply test. The Enermax fan a little louder though but I can live with that. Ill just keep the Seasonc as a spare when it returns

Quite odd but its good you found out what was causing the issue. I built 2 systems with the Asrock ITX board on FM2/+ and they both were pretty good (Minus the lack of an heatspreader over the power phases on the board which made me have to be creative with cooling.

Happens though, PSU's no matter how great a brand/OEM they are all have a chance at failing. Glad you got it fixed!
