Hmm... Can't decide whether to check it out or not. Doubt I'd get a freebie anyway - I'm just not motivated enough to camp out at the door. :ohwell:

I doubt the line-up will be 1000 deep, but yeah, you'll need to arrive early.

Nothing cool like this ever happens in Chicago. It's even a huge trade show city but never the big-name tech ones.

Looks like first 120 get a better combo deal then the rest.

Me and a fried have registered, but are about 3 hours drive away...still thinking about it.

Edit: If I do get to go (work may prevent it) I will confirm here on TPU to try and meet any other TPU members going.

I absolutely hate driving in SF, but its tempting- parking garage looks huge so parking wont be an issue either.

Toll bridge in to the city and toll to get out, think $5 each way. Parking garage is pay to park. Yes SF can be a pita, but no pain no gain as they say.

Northbound on the Golden Gate and eastbound on the Bay Bridge is free. :) I have a friend who lives in the City I could stay with the night before, but I just don't want to do it after I work all week. I live a couple hours from there now and I tend to avoid going unless I have to (and I was born raised there!). Guess I'm turning into a hick in my old age.

Everything I have read (as much as I can find) says the event is Free with registration.

Two of us are going, registered and confirmed! Any other TPU members going to be there?

Made it to AMD Fan Day. It was a blast! We got there at 2pm, and were probably about in the 200th position in line so we didn't get a ( https://twitter.com/GChip/status/320691573111271424/photo/1 ) motherboard, or the Cooler Master gaming keyboard the first 120 in line got. People were at the building at 7am waiting, before the building even opened up. We did get a FM2 A8 5600K unlocked quad-core in our swag bag. Lots of vendors there with the free stuff like tees, pens, lanyards, etc. I got 2 of the sweet Sapphire 9in 1 precision screwdrivers. Lots of gear was won/given away. I didn't win any pc components, but did win a Portal 2 Aperture Laboratories Handheld Portal Device Miniature Replica, the one you can buy in the Valve store. :toast:

AMD put on a excellent day at an excellent venue in San Francisco. No one walked away empty handed, with the FM2 A8 5600K. There was never ending gourmet pizza, healthy snacks, free flowing soda and water, and the 21 and over crowd got 2 drink tickets upon entry for beers (Bud Light, Stella Artois, Bass). The event was completely free and open to all ages. AMD really hit it out of the ball park in may opinion, something the competition my want to copy. I can not say enough about the venue, all of the awesome vendors, the awesome AMD fans, and the good vibe at the event, or thank AMD enough for giving us such a good day. :respect:
