AMD Mantle Question

I've been searching a few days now but can't seem to get a solid answer. I'm trying to figure out if mantle is compatible with mobile GPUs. I know it's compatible with all GCN GPUs but I'm seeing mixed answers for mobile GPUs and AMD themselves doesn't mention anything on this as of yet. The reason I ask this is because I plan to get a new laptop within the coming month and the current one I'm looking at has a A10-5750M + HD 8750M.

I thought it was only currently supported by GCN 2.0 GPU's, aka the high end R9 GPU's. They said they would eventually bring it to previous GCN cards like the 7970 (R9 280?) in the future, but I imagine they'll ensure support for the new Kaveri based systems and the new Hawaii chips before they start bringing in backwards compatibility.

I thought I read that added support already for GCN 1.0/HD 7000 And Kaveria with AMD CCC 14.2 Beta from a few Kaveria reviews I saw that showed a 40% GPU boost in BF4 with the IGP

AKA, Hawaii GPU's get all the performance improvement, where as bonaire, Tahiti, Tahiti XL and Pitcairn will recieve minor performance increases in comparion until AMD/DICE make it better.

EDIT: After researching more, mantle supports ALL GCN GPU's, but only hawaii is "optimised" for mantle.

Oh I see but back to original. What does that mean for the HD 8750M based on Mars Pro and GCN 1.0

If it's GCN it's supported but not "optimised". I'm quoting AMD, so if I'm wrong, AMD are basically lying about it's support for GCN.

Can confirm that mantle does atleast work on my 7950. Can't test on mobile for you though.

• Multi-GPU support under DirectX® and Mantle will be added to StarSwarm in a future application patch

• Notebooks based on AMD Enduro or PowerXpress™ technologies are currently not supported by the Mantle codepath in Battlefield 4™
