AMD was today named by Corporate Knights to its inaugural list of the S&P 500 Clean Capitalism Ranking, placing among the top twenty companies to be recognized. Corporate Knights, which defines "clean capitalism" as "responsible, resource-productive and socially just", employs a transparent, quantitative methodology to compile its ranking, evaluating factors such as energy and carbon productivity, leadership diversity and employee turnover.

"By combining a strong set of quantitative metrics with transparent, best-in-class research, Corporate Knights is providing a valuable tool to help key stakeholders decide which companies are truly committed to corporate responsibility," said Allyson Peerman, corporate vice president, AMD Public Affairs. "AMD's worldwide stakeholders should celebrate not only this prestigious recognition, but also their commitment to a company that walks the talk."

AMD was also recognized recently by Trust Across America, a think tank dedicated to promoting and recognizing trustworthy business behavior, as one of the Top Ten Most Trustworthy Public Companies for 2011. The Trust Across America study independently analyzed over 200 data points with respect to five key corporate indicators of trustworthy business behavior: financial stability and strength, accounting conservativeness, corporate integrity, transparency, and sustainability. According to its founders, the framework, initially conceived and developed in 2008 with a group of academics, corporate leaders and consultants, is "the most holistic and comprehensive trust 'health' checkup for public companies."

That's why AMD never succeeds. They play it too nice where others that make massive profits play dirty all the time.

AMD not succeeding? So they are not pulling in billions in revenue?

revenue matters as much as you spend all your money on crack and then are broke a week before the next payday

Revenue or gross income isn’t necessarily a sign of fiscal health. Last I heard AMD wasn’t making much of a profit if any this last quater. If they are its nothing like Apple, Intel and many others with healthy profit margins (breaking records).

As for being clean, AMD sold their FABs if I am not mistaken. Its easy to shrink you carbon footprint if you don’t actually produce anything yourself,….

BTW, IMO selling their FABs was a big mistake,….

ENRON HAD BILLIONS IN REVENUE... i wonder what went wrong there...oh yeh, no profit, you could have $30 billion in total revenue and still loose money, profit keeps a comany running, not revenue

I know that from now on, AMD will begin grabbing market share again in the future. It is an enterprise with a lot of future in front.

Just check in your place every laptop and desktop you see, how many got the vision logo on it

Those nice guys have a slightly larger bulge in their pants as I just added to their wallets. Picked up an FX-8120, 990FX, and Radeon.

Is that why their stock went from $4.30 per share to $7.70 since late November?

They didn't sell their fabs, they spun them off and are one of the parent holding companies of Global Foundries. So your premise is wrong but the outcome is correct, Global Foundries is obviously not lumped in with AMD when investigating for "green" production. Green is now just a marketing term with no real basis in reality.

It's still not up to the $11 bucks I bought it at. They have a ways to go yet. :)

"Clean Capitalism" is an oxymoron, just a marketing ploy to attract the "enviromentally conscious" user's. See how they work that there? Any company doing any type of manufacturing is polluting. It is an inevitable by-product of the process, progress is great! If AMD is polluting less than other's, great! I still think they pollute too much, all of them

As a response in context to what I said,….I really don’t see your point. AMD is not making record profits and their green status seems pointless given the circumstances.
