In response to Intel quad core price cuts, AMD cuts Phenom II prices.

As of tomorrow they will cost:
Phenom II X4 940 - 225$
Phenom II X4 920 - 195$
(in tray of 1000 CPUs).

Now isn't that sweet ? !! :D

Phenom II plus a GIGABYTE UD3 mobo for $300. What a sweet upgrade, plus this will consume less power than Intel platform, as AMD chipset is less power hungry than x38/48

This is what I have been waiting for.. I just don't think this will help AMD. Don't they only get a small amount from each they sell?

Remember guys, this is volume pricing. Retail will still be $250 on the 940.

Really? I always thought it was a lot more.

i'm guessing so, from the fact that AMD can sell Phenom I Quad core lowest model for less than $100, and maybe $70 AR, and that was 65nm process and still make some profit out of it. So it must cost really less to make.

Yeah this is nice and all but I haven't really seen any deep price cuts in the Q9550 or Q9650's At least at newegg . still if the AMD PII performs as well as the Q9550's then Intel should be cutting the price big time or at least one would think this .

Reading this, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU_design, it looks like most of the cost of a CPU is to help pay for the engineers who come up with these great, wonderful toys and make them work.

Believe what you want I will stick to some thing more reliable .

This isn't the time for making backwards comments man,

anyways on a side note it's probably a good move since other procs are being phazed, gives even more leeway to the x3 being under 150

Yeah ok ..
What I want to see is some real cuts now get the Q9XXX's under $250.00 and that would be some real competitive pricing then . for now they are still very high in price and AMD is able to put there Quads out for a way better price . Hopefully this will give Intel a wake up call and make them drop there prices even further .
