the 4xxx series is now almost 3 generations back, How many more optimizations do you think they can pull out of a now "old" card?:wtf:

Or maybe remember to get a card released in the last 1-2 years and not over 3 years old!! ;)

Will be interesting to see how my tiny little HD 5770 doesn't cope with this game :)

I didnt know being obselete was an act of discrimination.

IMO you should be proud your 4870 has made this far.

I like the look of the new layout :rockout:

my point still stands. it being a 4850 doesnt make it any less obselete. AMD are not going to suddenly start restocking these cards and selling them on the shelves

Me either. I'm just now downloading the beta, and checked the twitter to see if the driver was live and saw that. No new update yet, so I suppose by 11 am CST it'll be up (hopefully) and fixed.

You should check the changelogs of Nvidia drivers first, pretty sure there's been no changes for 200 series cards in a long while either..

The driver is working fine for me, when using a hotfix/beta driver people should uninstall all ATI software via the control panel first.

Well i cannot agree, that a 3 year old "4870x2" ist an old pice of pcb, it still rocks and gives alot of FPS, i also feel kinda sad about it since the card still has alot of power.
i own a 6990 now but im not really impressed for that 3gen upgrade

4870x2 is a different story. thats still a fairly powerful card and probably good for mid to high settings in some games.

not everyone could afford one back in the however.

    Its still old though.

2x4870s in crossfire is roughly about the same as one overclocked 5850 - or at least thats what my benches told me when i was forced to upgrade to one when one of my 4870s died and didnt make it back from RMA.

i don't know if it give any performances to my ATI HD4870x2 : I feel now i should have bough GTX 460 SLI back there at least Driver are supported and they are from the same year

tired of those 35-40FPS with a massive drop below 20FPS when im getting shoot at sometime
And I think the Server lag... or it micro stuttering curse you ATI :banghead: still managed 10:1 but oh yeahhh CTD without any error log just that you got owned by the server

    Labeled a Hotfix, yet it's a 147MB download. wat!~?

I have the setup in my profile and mine runs it on High with 2x/4x and manages an acceptable frame rate (like 60's when nothing is going on and 40's in fire fights). You should be fine. This is also PRE-11.10 preview.

If you can still find some 5850 Xtreme cards. then they would be seriously bang for buck with a little overclocking. Not too sure what the price was in USD but here in the UK, some retailers were selling those cards as low as $140.

cards got some pretty tremdous reviews. overclocking them was a little flakey though. since the card is litterally a Cyprus Chip placed on a 6850 PCB. but the card does have voltage tweaking so thats still worth a playing around with.

I know that Sapphire only made a few batches of them and they were so cheap they were sold out within hours
