Actually it's plain simple, two years ago i spent $135 on a graphics card, today i want to spend the same $135 and get at least 50% more performance, guess what there isn't any card that can give that jump in performance for that price.
Get it?

The maybe you should go to the AMD forums and tell them about it.
There is no point unloading your rage on me.

As long as a card is over all better and is launched cheaper than the previous card it is a valid replacement.
The 5770 may not perform better than the 4870 but it is launched at $200 instead of $300 of the 4870.
You manage to get a 4870 for cheap most likely because the vendor/seller wants to get rid of old stock.

Ok Zubasa i won't, but my point remains, 135 dollars can get you nothing much better(50%) than 2 years ago, i think they only focus on the 180 - 700 segment....

This 6790 seems, to late for me.

By the way mailman, all the cards at $150 are 5770 LOL

Yeah your right! Google fail! lulz.

Anyway as it stands now I don't see your point.

4870 cost around 300 bones on release from what I can remember.

5770 cost around 150 bones on release.

If you spent 300 now you could get a card that would destroy the 4870.

I mean really. Whats your point man? You have to compare tiers. Not time.

This

I read somewhere that 6790 is an insane overclocker (past 1Ghz) and maybe unlockable, that would be great.http://www.fudzilla.com/graphics/item/22273-amd-radeon-hd-6790-is-a-great-overclocker
ok, i know it's fudzilla but hey they are right sometimes and this is not the kind of stuff someone would lie about.

PD: i got one new hd 4870 for $135(sold it for 150 a year later lol) 2 years ago.

Having parts of the current lineup not beating the previous lineup is not exactly unprecedented. ;) Hell you could outperform most of the low end with a 6 year old X1800XT.

This is where the consumer has to be intelligent and figure out the best value on his own. If one has a 4870, one should not buy a 5770 and then bitch about it later because one was stupid. On the other hand, a 4870 uses hella more power and heats a room up far better than a 5770, and it's a nice upgrade from a lot of older cards. 5770's GPU (Juniper) was the mobile high end for a year because of this aspect.

I'll have to wait for the 6870 to drop to 160USD, or hope that this 6790 unlocks to a 6870 and overclocks like a champ.

So does the fact they have released the first HD6700 card mean that HD5750 and HD5770 are going to be refreshed/replaced soon? I'm also wondering why they would release a cut down HD6870 into this segment unless they're getting really bad yields on those chips or are trying to clear stock in anticipation of the new 28nm parts. Wouldn't it make more sense to use hobbled HD6850's to keep cost and power consumption down?

why people even care about 1 6pin or 2 6pin ?? , it's like 4890 used 2 6pin and hd 5770 used 1 6 pin.
