Yeah, AMD isn't likely to make a horrible mistake like that *cough...sandbagging...cough*, when they showed us so much power in this series. We've gotten greedy, very greedy. If the performance of the next series is similar to this one, many of us will just skip it & AMD doesn't want that now do they.

It's like an all-out brawl now.

I would be cheering for AMD (as well), if only their architecture wasn't so crappy, and their performance terrible in Crysis because of it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but NV is also garbage in Crysis too.

yes their architecture is crappy, i agree with u, its so crappy that it beats nvidia in every other game, but crysis, which is way too optimized for nvidia . it beats nvidia in the other optimized for nvidia games like lost planet . which shows u how crappy nvidia architecture must be . something to think about .

You make it sound like Crysis is one of the best games out there. Its actually one of the worst coded disasters to date. The best thing they did for it is to allow us to mod it ourselves. The GTX280 doesn't exact eat Crysis - as a matter of fact, Crysis can too kill that card  Run the POS @ 1920x1200 VH on the GTX & see what happens on the last level. I had to hold my friend back, he almost took a steel toe to his rig

Crysis...Crysis, so what. That game is way too overestimated. If NV & AMD cared about that POS so much, they could design their cards to kill it, but they would die in every other game that didn't use the Crytek 2 engine. Are you really playing Crysis all the time, there are much better games out there you know.

afaik RV8xx will be a different architecture to RV7xx; its what AMD has been really been working on recently.

keep the 800 and clock then independently like Nvidia does and that will be pure Pwnage! :rockout:

Why didn't they do this years ago, if it's the secret formula?

ATi struggles to match Nvidia's architecture; simple as that.

The problem is that 3d applications (mass audience oriented) may stress graphics processors, yet they don't challenge them.

Until developers start coding differently, forcing GPU architecture to change, we're going to be in a perpetual - die shrink vs ROP increase vs bus increase vs memory clock increase vs ...the list goes on; just rehashing and slightly improving the base designs.

These companies are and AREN'T getting ahead of themselves all at the same time. It's nuts.

AND why in the world do we keep allowing these pointless, entirely speculative, biased and ultimatley negative 'news' reports to be posted ; they continously help fuel the fires of redundant and inane threads that widen the rift of stupidity and take us farther and farther away from being a respectful website.

If you're going to be a psuedo-news staff member and jack information from other websites, then at LEAST get back to using something that serves a purpose other than turning the teenie-bopper fanboys into frenzied mouth foaming Ogres.

Uh, about 95% of the 'news' we get come from these baseless reports. The whole point of reporting them is that we see it as news. The majority of it actually comes to past  When it comes to attacking these reports, its usually opinionated anyway. That's where salt comes in. It doesn't take a scientist to see that. But everyone is entitled to there own opinion, even if it is that the news is BS :toast:

BTW, AMD doesn't have to try to match NV's arch when they've already found a cost effective way of beating it. If it works, keep it. If it don't, trash it. Don't trash it before you even know whether it works or not :wtf:

To further that AMD is keeping a tight lip as of late. They arent the old AMD who give the opposition any chance to counter them early; i.e. 4850s.

Lowball your product expectations so that the sheep (customers and competitors) will think you suck.

Then release the product which destroys the expectation (and competition) to shut the customers up and make them lose faith in the competitor.

It's an excellent strategy, and it's working.

Exactly, NV really fell for it hard this time. So they better get off their asses & put out the best they can. Every source is saying AMD will hold back on the RV870. I wouldn't even bet a dime on that BS. AMD is out for blood, & they got a good share of it on this go-around. They're not about to hold up now.
