JUST BEFORE NOON Taipei time on Wendesday, ATI is going to to drop a bombshell on the graphics world, showing off working 40nm DX11 silicon. Nvidia has yet to tape out a DX11 part or put a 40nm chip on the market.

The cards that will be showed off are Evergreen/Cypress, what is commonly referred to as R870. That code name however is not used internally, so if you ever see any leaked specs or charts with R870 on them, they are flat out faked. There have been several of these bandied around, but they are all laughably off.

AMD promised that they would have DX11 cards out on the market by the Windows 7 launch, and barring a massive and as of yet undetected problem, it looks like they will make that with ease. In the mean time, at the company's Computex press conferences, Nvidia distinctly avoided any mention of DX11 or parts that run it..

Mid-day tomorrow, the winners and losers for the next 2-3 quarters will become very very clear.

Very interesting, would be quiet the bombshell, I wonder how Nvidia would react, I would assume they must have something in hiding.

ATI FTW!!! "...Nvidia has yet to tape out a DX11 part or put a 40nm chip on the market." "...Nvidia distinctly avoided any mention of DX11 or parts that run it.."

Nvidia needs to catch up...unless they are being very sneeky. Doubtful.

I read somewhere (don't remember where) that a new 40nm monster will be out in July. Looks like it might be true.

Can't wait to see how the new cards perform. :rockout:

I hope they are affordable as well.

Now all ATi have to do is get their drivers back up to snuff like they used to be. Once upon a time ATi won awards for how good their software was.

Cool.. I hope there better details than whats been going around..

I just cannot understand why people in a rush for DX11 it's not as if any games are going be around for some time yet..

Like to know why i have this horrible feeling ATI cards are coming sooner is more due to NV's going kick there ass lol. BUT hopefully it's more of NV's GIANT GPU is why it's taking longer.

I've always heard this about ATi cards, and to be honest I don't think I have ever had a driver issue on any of my 9800pro, x850pro, x1950pro, 3650xt, 3870, 4850, or 4870x2. Is there a current issue with the drivers?

I never had issues with ATI drivers going from Radeon 7500-current until the 8.12's came about, couldn't crossfire my 3870x2's. Besides those drivers life as been sweet:D

 Yeah I never had an issue, I usually only upgrade my vid card drivers because I am bored, the only ones I actually felt were worth while were the ones that added fan control, those were actually an improvement. And I just want to say, why ATi, why did you have to take away my beloved Pro's, always so good at a good amount under the XT's cost.

What's funny is i've always heard that ATI drivers were horrible etc etc since the Rage, well I haven't had any problems since Cat (before that a few bugs but i found out it was a crappy mobo) 3.8s-7.7s (AGP Direct X Support Dropped off on the cat 7.8-7.12s) Cat 8.1-9.3s have been flawless for me. There is a driver I can attest to and that is the Last Forceware set for the GF MX line of cards (Horrible Control panel, id say much worse than CCC).
