AnandTech checks out DX10

It's a pretty good read......I get the Impression It's a little early to be jumping on the DX10 wagon.

They both argued that graphics cards are no longer just about 3D, and additional video decode hardware and DX10 support add a lot of value above the previous generation. We certainly don't see it this way. Yes, we can't expect last years high-end performance to trickle down to the low-end segment, but we should at least demand that this generation's $150 part will always outperform last generation's.

AMD and NVIDIA had the chance to define the minimum performance of a DX10 class part higher than what we can expect from cards that barely get by with DX9 code. By choosing to design their hardware without a significant, consistent performance advantage over the X1600 and 7600 class of parts, developers have even less incentive (not to mention ability) to push next generation features only possible with DX10 into their games. These cards are just not powerful enough to enable widespread use of any features that reach beyond the capability of DirectX 9."

Game, set, match point. I was right all along. People never listen, though *sigh*

Lets look at the DX10 version of Lost Planet that performs so well using G80.
If you look at this link (use your mouse to move the pointer over the 1st 2 pictures to flip it from DX9 to DX10). Although it's only 2 pics you clearly see no difference between DX9 and DX10. Although those 2 photos shouldn't be taken as full representation of the DX10 version. If Lost Planet is a SM 4.0 please provide a link as I have not found such information? If those 2 photos are taken with a grain of salt what DX10 graphical advantage are you getting?

on the second picture they have those spikes coming of the ceiling off alingment when you mouse over, it does that on both cave pictures actually.. last one looks good though of the door.. looks more real in dx10 mode.
