    Hi all,

Should be getting my Corsair HX520w this week and am now wanting either a single GTX 460 1gb or should I just grab another 5770?

Really love the GTX 460's but my motherboard is only crossfire capable so that would be my all, and although the performance is probably 30% more than my 5770 I would be limited to that unless I change cards again.

The other option is just to grab another 5770 for some crossfire action. I have had dual 5770's before and they can kick it easily with a single 5850 and upto the perf of a single 5870 in some games and benches.

    Suggestions please?

or just wait for the 6xxx, i think you'd better wait for the 6770 it's 256bit and u can crossfire it later this is the best choice

Meh I dont do waiting and am guessing that 2 x 5770's will best the 6 series equivalent to a 5770

Tesselation performance isn't really that important right now my friend.

    What if I do?

But no I dont, I want an upgrade, My PSU needs it and so does my GPU and CPU, that can wait though cause a 4 core PII at 3.6ghz is fine for gaming. Heck I could wait for the 6 series, though why not just wait for the fermi refresh or even the 7 series? If I wait for the 6 series, I will have no excuse to upgrade next year lol

Imo, I wouldn't even bother with 5770 crossfire nor the 1GB GTX460. If you can dig up the cash, could go 2nd hand 5850 due to a crossfire board as you pointed out.

    Why?

You were considering crossfire before, and with the way things are going, picking a second one up 2nd hand with the 6 series launch would be the most logical budget minded thing.

    EDIT:

Also there is a hack available for SLI on non-licensed boards .... ;)

I'd go the cheapest 5770 in your shoes, a GTX460 is good and all but you'll get ebtter performance considering you already have one 5770.

the midrange/lower end cards always seem to scale better than high end too. well from my experience.

If I was to wait until all hardware prices drop I would be waiting a long time, thats the name of the game unfortunately, get it now and it will be $50 cheaper in 3 months or wait for new tech to drop prices.

I think I am going to pull the trigger on another 5770, do't think the HX520w would be upto the task of 2x460's as buying just 1 wouldn't make sense against 2x5770's

i think it will withstand 2x5770 cuz i used to have an 400w power supply with my 8800gt and q6600 i had issues when iwas ocing now its in my bother's pc.,so add another 5770 it only use 75watt;):toast:

A 5770 uses upto 100w whilst gaming, and more overclocked so 75w is a fair bit out though they dont use a great deal.

My issue wasn't with running 2 x 5770's on it, I know it will do that any day of the week, heck I ran 2x 4850's on one 2 years ago no problems. I wouldn't however feel comfortable running 2 460's on it if I decided to go the 460 route and possibly add another later on, so I guess I might have just answered my own question :wtf:

Corsair HX520w could run 5770s in crossfire easily. I'm running 4850 in crossfire on a 460W Coolermaster. The 4850s use more power than the 5770s.

Just get another 5770, the GTX 460 is a beast of a card, but if you already have a crossfire compatible mobo and already have a 5770,then getting a second 5770 would be a wise decision.

5770 for sure. To be honest, while playing games I barely notice a difference between a 5770 and a GTX 460. I'm actually a bit dissapointed with this 460 so far since my spare PSU doesn't want to run it. It'll run a 5850, but not a 460... strange.

than your PSU dosn't know what good for him , wery strange PSU you have

I hoping that my stupid OCZ StealthXStream 500 W will be able to run GTX460 Properly , it so stupid that the 4 Pin ( yes 4Pin not 8Pin ) can't reach to the connectors on the board, thare is only ONE PCI-E power cable , so I must find 2Molex to PCI-E to run the stupid card . and the last one because there only 4Molex so i will need to connect the fan to the Mother Board ...

I think it will be easier to change the Stupis PSU to this SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 1... :p

I would advice that you wait another month just to see if the price comes down with the release of the 6000 series.
