Anybody got "D3DOverrider" to work with FAR CRY 4 ??

Been trying to force D3Doverrider v-sync instead of using the in-game v-sync. Did anybody here manage to make d3doverrider work with the game?

I set it up like I do for all the other games but I don't hear the little sound cue when the game starts that confirms d3d is working... The FPS goes beyond my refresh rate of course...

I tried it and no, it doesn't work. D3DO only works on OpenGL.

With your spec though I would think you'd be able to use the in game Vsync with no problems.

I tried the ndivia forced v-sync... still no luck...

but I found a fix... somehow the game seems to boost it's own FPS by pressing ALT-ENTER 2x times... swapping from fullscreen to borderless and then back to fullscreen seems to fix the weird issues I had (including lower FPS) ...
dunno why but yeah...

Sounds very much like a bug to me, especially with the way you have to get it to work. I remember years ago I had a very old game which didn't respect the driver vsync setting (I don't understand how it can override it, to be honest) and behaved like this.

All I can suggest is that you have everything patched to the latest versions, Windows, drivers and game. Perhaps a bit more googling on it might reveal a configuration file setting? Perhaps simply reinstalling FC4 might cure it - but watch out for lost progress.

Unfortunately, I don't have FC4 yet to try this out and help.

Funny thing about that alt+enter stuff ... in many ubisoft games (since FC:3 and AC:3 - I don't now if they all use the same engine, or they share some common code that causes this) switching from full screen to windowed than back to full screen seems to "fix" the framerate somehow be it with alt+enter, ctrl+alt+del and switching to task manager and back, alt-tabbing to desktop app and back or similar ... it somehow re-initializes the engine the right way - it may have something with triple buffering being really active only after the "fix", I never had any incentive to investigate deeper
