anyone know of an android adblocker that works ?

My mom got an android tablet, visual land has 4 cores its pretty nice for games.

So i try to use adblock says i need to enable a port on device but it wont show the option.

So i try to get an unroot program I saw on youtube some shit says can unlock 8000 devices

I install it uncheck all the adaware options it wanted to install then few mins my system is full of viruses...



so anyone can give me advice for unrooting and adblocking ?


I had adgaurd on it and works but gets disabled all the time like fkn google owns this device..

you mean root, unroot means locking it back to the default limited user account

rooting depends on android version, certainly do not just go googling for the first result as that is likely to be viruses as you found

stick to xda-developers or other android forums, you're gonna have to do some research

i am not sure if there is much luck on 4.4.4, but on older ones like 4.2 you might be able to use geohot's towelroot (yes the iphone & ps3 jailbreaker guy, i have tried it on my 4.2 minix but it didnt seem to work, havent tried other methods like adb)

but before all this... what exactly do you need to do? block ads? just turn off wifi or possibly block with the router, or just deal with seeing them...

if it's ads on websites, i'm liking firefox with ABP

TPU is probably not going to result in the most comprehensive android answers, so you might want to ask on android specific forums

if you're lucky, you may find enthusiasts for your device OR a place focused on your chipset that's in your device

(for example, my minix has a ritek chipset, one that happens to be popular among other cheap boxes, so i happened to stumble upon a forum section like this where there are various people hacking away at various models & brands that all end up using similar flashing/rooting/patching procedures)

btw, there is an alternative method if you JUST want to block ads... it might be possible to edit your hosts file, without rooting, but installing a zip from an sd card via recovery

of course a host file means ad domains will change & you have to keep updating it, i dont know if there are in memory ways to do it, if they need root, etc

Download page (look for the download APK button, you dont need Fdroid)

You could always try some of the more user-friendly root tools like Kingo if you dont have root.

You basically need to enable USB debugging in the developer settings of the device (you can google for how to make that visible if its not by default) and then kingo (or whatever root alternatives you find for your device) will do the rest.

Now kingo installed drivers with in windows just fine.. dev mode checked, but it just says connecting for a few mins I tried a few times rebooting device

oh shit I got it working took a long while says rooted =D

especially when the ads were animated or changing, yeah it can free up a bit of CPU power. adaway is the only one i know of to remove the frames, others i tried left blank placeholder frames you could still 'click'

Well, for webpages you can use Firefox that allows addons and it to has AdBlock there. For the entire OS, I often just block internet access for apps using avast! Mobile Security firewall (needs rooted phone though). Or on my current Huawe Ascend P7 where I already have the firewall out of the box. Assuming the game/app doesn't really need internet access...

the chip is most likely a RK3188
Quad core A9 and a Mali400MP4
you can overclock them with some hex-kernel patching but you need a image of the kernel todo so

with a custom kernel, OCing CPU and GPU is possible. without it, you cant really do much except change governors and alter min/max clocks.

For example, on my android HDMI stick i've raised the minimum clocks from 100Mhz to 400Mhz - its got no battery to drain, and its a lot more responsive now.

see the post above you you don't need a custom kernel on Rockchip devices you can do it with binary kernel patching
the biggest thing for the RK3188 is to key the ram speed up to around 600Mhz,thats where the bottleneck is

a discontinued kogan "smart TV" dongle. its the first gen one, not the one currently for sale. i'll have to look into its hardware.
