multi tasking wont be endorsed by apple untill the iphone 4g (which is on its way, and will be avaliable for verizon and all).

the reason is cause the iphone battery is a bitch and runs out way too fast. allowing multi tasking would kill the phone's battery within like 30 mins..

Just wait till May/June for that info. That's usually when they talk about new iPhone stuff and or new iPhone releases.

Because when you're sitting in a Starbuck's pretending to be all bohemian and trendy and interesting, you need something fancier than boring old paperbacks to flash about.

it's a 9 inch TOUCHSCREEN tablet. how can you consider yourself a tech buff and not think that is the least bit cool!?

not to mention it's starting at $500.

yeah still expensive, but people were throwing around 800+ figures , i was hoping 4-6 would be more likely.

No i won't buy one anytime soon. but it's cool. you can already hook your ipod/phone up to your pc/mac and use it as a touch pad. now there is a 9 inch one. universal wifi remote. I already use my touch for so many things, that just having a more powerful 9 inch version is worth a few hundred.

add to that the fact that although it is not by any means super powerful, it is multitudes better than the touch/phone. that opens up many possibilities wrapped in a cool package, for a reasonable price.

as always I will wait a year or so, buy an early adopter's leftovers for sub<$300 , and be happy with it.

oh i think it is wicked cool, but i dont see any practical use for it. i will wait a year or so and see what else comes down the pike.

practical? lol no. agreed there. just fun ... but if it were about being practical palm would have lasted while ipod floundered. people want fun for no reason. that's as practical as it gets.

you have to be much braver to run vista and neither do i... it is kinda stupid. there will probably be an adapter of some sort.

WOW a tablet pc! (sarcastic tone).
The problem with the iPhone is that its a totally touch screen orientated device, i like devices with a touch screen but also a pull out keyboard like the Nokia N97 design as a reference example. It also tries to be more than its size will allow.

The same applies with the iPad, its got no tactile feedback being totally touch orientated like a keyboard or keypad would have. It seems to be to that size where its close to a nettop or a laptop. Its like they said "The iPhone hmmn lets blow it up in size because bigger is better!"

People may love it but its not for me, i actually find it useless.

Its only strong point is that it seems to have a bit of backing from companies. Games on it and tv on it certainly will be better but i cant imagine using it for anything more than recreation certainly not actual work.

I agree with you about tactile feedback, I need it as well on a phone and on a computer. but on an ipod touch, or an ipad - i can go without.

you are right, it's all about recreation. and for the amount of money people spend on recreation and the relatively low price point on it, it will probably do very well, past the fanboys.
