I mean I am pretty happy with my iPhone 4 and am not an Apple person overall but this was worth a chuckle no matter where you stand.

    Ha ha ha ha, classic!

Serves them right for accusing everything of being a copy or infringement.

This is outrageous! The heathens are pushing for the Holy Apple to LIE??? The Sacred Company offered them enlightenment, yet they scorned it! And now they go even further with this act of sacrilege!

Grey area. Apple invented the tablet as we know it. Did samsung copy that? Yes. But what really is happening here is a debate as to whether GM copied ford when it created its own version of a 'car'. Most people agree that GM copied the idea, made it its own and slapped GM on it. Is that infringement? My opinion is NO.

I think invent is the completely wrong word. Has apple "invented" anything?

    Re : The topic
Since the judge ruled that Apple cannot be forced to stop restating that it's design has been infringed upon (they can retain the opinion that the judge is wrong), if they are forced to produce an advert they are just going to word it so it makes the judge look like an idiot.

True but will that also lay open the door for Apple to be held in "Contempt of Court"
If you Mock the Courts Judgment and or the officials after it has been given that is "Contempt of Court" = Big Fine

When a judge uses the wording that he doesn't agree with Apple because the Samsung tablet at hand is "not as cool", he obviously needs to take his job a little more seriously.

Apple is going to appeal this desicion and will most likely win.

They don't have to mock the court's judgement to show they disagree with it and make it look like the judge didn't know what he was doing. I am pretty sure that Apple's legal council will make sure they are not in contempt.

... and it's going to cost the UK taxpayers more money when they could have just made the ruling and let it go.

How is this damaging? The only people who care are Apple and their fan base. It's not like adverts will change their minds anyway.

The judge should have never have made such a desicion. The comment's about "not being as cool" are extremely unprofessional and so is his judgement.

I think it's so funny how people on this forum (who are american) are so against Apple and their products... Apple is creating more jobs in America right now than any other tech company, and maybe any other company period. Apple is using more and more American made products inside of their devices. Apple is an american success story.

They would rather see a South Korean company copy their products and win unprofessional court cases like this than actually support a company who is making their country successful.

The least you can do is cheer for Apple and Microsoft. These guys are working their a**es off creating great products that are successful world wide, and they are right here in america. I mean if you can't cheer for companies in your own country that you reside in...

Once in awhile you will see a judge in the US dish out something unusual to make the guilty party feel ashamed for what they did. This is usually done with errant teenagers who cross the line or the occasional adult who should know better.

This is a case against a multi-billion dollar corporation who has a full legal department and teams of lawyers. Who is going to feel ashamed? The lawyers? Give me a break.

IMO, this addition to the original judgement is ridiculous and serves no purpose other than to try to "spank" Apple for something that is completely legal to do (litigate for perceived infringement).
I'm no Apple apologist, but this is crap and the courts (in any country) should be above this.

Apple, Google, Microsoft ,American company's that use their corporate financial muscle to ride roughshod over their rivals while Breaking the laws in the countries they are doing Business in.
As long as they don't get caught they think its ok.
when they are caught out they whine whinge and appeal to try and get legal decisions thrown out or changed to suit them (often at the expense of rivals)
all major multinationals do it not just American.

You want a current Microsoft example
    Browser choice
They were caught out, Penalized. Made to change their ways
since that judgment which they eventually accepted (paid the fine made legal binding agreements with the Courts ect).
they have Slipped back into their old ways
where is the browser selection screen in the European Version of Windows 7 sp1
"Oh we overlooked putting it in again" Microsoft excuse when again challenged by the EU
Now the EU Rightfully is Going After Microsoft for Breaching Legal Settlements THEY AGREED TO.
Like it or not often cases brought by the EU eventually give American citizens more rights as American Courts see multinational Business practices caught out by the EU and realise that this also Deprives Americans of Choice Value Security.

To add to my previous comment, I think what Google is doing is atrocious.

Right now, there is a huge movement in America to bring assembly line jobs back to America. Google is completely disconnected from this movement. Google is ripping off companies such as Oracle, Microsoft, and Apple and then giving their ripoffs to communist China and other Asian countries basically for free.
