Does the Intel I3-4130 paired with the Asrock Fatal1ty z87 Killer support the R9-270x's full potential? If not, would the AMD FX 6300 be a better choice for gaming? Thanks

If you're going to skimp on the CPU, go AMD. You get more for your $ with the FX-6300 or FX-8320.

If you are gonna go with a nice board like that then I would NOT go with an i3. If you are choosing that due to lower price, I would with AMD.

I would go with the 8320 instead its only 30 bucks more.

There's no point in getting a high-end board if you're going to use an entry level CPU with it. An ASRock Z87 Pro3 or something like that would be way more cost effective, and you could use the remaining cash to bump that i3 to an i5.

In this case I wouldn't go super high end with one thing and super low on the other. Find a nice medium. Unless you plan on doing a major upgrade in the very near future. Also, welcome to TPU! :D
