Shame robots are still a long long way off having any kind of intelligence. They recoken the top super computers are about on par with a bumble bee ! Computers dont think or learn they just run programes.

Very true ! After all it took evolution millions of yrs to get creators as inteligent as a bumble bee. Cpu's are there after 30.

Self awareness is the big hurdle for programers & robot disigners !

Introduce this thing to enough things just like you would a child and it could learn and develop in exactly the same manner as a child does, now THATS impressive.

Your not aware of just how complex it is to simulate human walking are you? This little robot guy is doing awesome things, can recognise objects, didn't do too badly at all when attempting to walk up stairs, and generally seems to have highly adaptive AI capable of learning and remembering - just like a child. Introduce this thing to enough things just like you would a child and it could learn and develop in exactly the same manner as a child does, now THATS impressive.

youve summed up the exact reason why i find this so interesting, the fact it can learn to do all these things

It should also be noted that when asimo tried walking up the stairs he/she/it had never attempted it before yet still got halfway there. Since then the engineers have apparently properly taught asimo to walk up stairs. I would assume it was a simple case of changing the programming very slightly to tell asimo to keep looking and judging.

well yea it must have 'thought' right ive got the measurments for the first step so i can get the rest but obviously there must have been differences in the steps meshurements, and it learnt its first lesson, dont trust human engineering haha irony
