My Netgear r6300 is dead now. $200 since the day it was released to today is ..... Im not sure the Asus will give a better life span and performance or not? between those Asus and Netgear above, which one is the best? Gaming, streaming and web surfing are things that I do. Thanks.

They are both great. Really just pick whatever one you like better.

Personally I have had both, and I am using the R7000 as my daily driver......

Asus has Merlin firmware which is nice ,and they offer adaptive QoS if your connection is slower.

R7000 is technically more powerful, but the netgear stock firmware is lacking compared to Asus. (Fine for me) and I never had great overall experiences with DD-WRT on either.

I, personally, would choose the Netgear.
I really like my R6300 v2.
Connects and runs rock solid.
And, the wireless range is the best I have used, to date.

Edit:
What happened to your 6300... Just wondering?

my 6300 v1 has worked flawlessly for the past 2 years. Last week, there was no internet and the power on that router keep flashing. I bought a Asus ac68 and it is even better. My ping when playing games is lower and range seem a little further.
