ASUS Announces PG191 Multimedia LCD monitor

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (ASUS) today announced the PG191 LCD monitor, which sports an innovative Super Bass System and speedy 2ms response time to deliver the audio and video performance demanded by hardcore gamers. The PG191 features 2ms ultra fast matrix with TraceFree technology, native resolution of 1280x1024 pixels, 800:1 contrast ratio and 320cd/m2 brightness. It comes with unique black-and-silver aluminium design and integrated 2.1-channel speaker system (two 10-Watt speakers and 15-Watt super bass system). Complemented by SRS Lab's Flagship TruSurround XT audio technology, PG191 supports the latest game 5.1-and 6.1 channel sound effects as well as hot keys to choose between five special audio modes. Built-in 1.3-Megapixel Web camera, along with the headphone and mic jacks is included. It also has three USB 2.0 ports and both DVI-D and D-SUB inputs.

I still don't believe that the sound quality from that can match the sound from indepentant speakers, and also hardcore gamers would surely want a better resolution that 1280x1024?

19 inch is standard now with all the price drops for everyday users. The monitor would have to be at least 20 inch for a hardcore gamer in my opinion. Also like Jimmy said, built on speakers are no match for the bigger and badder independant speakers. I'd like to see those built on's try to surpass the pure savage fury which is speakers with a subwoofer

my headphones are better than all of the speakers... its bose noise canceling 5.1 surround emulation headphones... costed 600$ but... got it for free because my dad works at bose

haha no headphones or pc speakers can beat that sound quality

i still think they shouldnt of done all that extra stuff, it will just make it more expensize than any other 19" and then no one will buy it, u just need the good quality screen on its own with these specs then more people will buy it

Yep, what good is speakers on the monitor when you don't use it? I'd buy a pair of 10 dollar speakers over built in ones anyday.

So what resolution you play it now determines if you can be considered a hardcore gamer? 1280x1024 is more then enough for a lot of hardcore gamers, espeically those that don't have a shitload of $$$$ laying around.

Depends what you think of as a hardcore gamer. I think of a hardcore gamers as someone who has the money and builds a super quick system with all the best parts available, and 1280x1024 isn't the best. Obviously there is no set definition, so I'll accept some people might think this is good enough. From the sound of things this is going to cost a shitload of $$$$ though anyway.
