When that time comes, probably one of the next gen cards, just like the lucky bastards that traded in 8800GTX's and got back GTX280s and such...

Usually, but some people get lucky and the companies send cards out that are nice upgrades from what they sent in.

What happens when you need an RMA and they don't have any left? Give you the next "best" thing which... well there is none. Give em a raincheck!

I know its not, but with 4GB of memory and a 1250$ price tag you would think it should be.

    Buy MARS, lose street cred

A significant part of the reason for buying something like this, is to show it off to your friends, in real life or online. If everyone thinks you're a dick for getting it, then you lose all credibility and it defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

Even though I wouldn't get this even if I was rich enough, I wouldn't personally put someone down for it. I'd be glad for them and be happy to let them talk about it - and find the justification especially interesting. I'd also be curious to see some benchmarks.

Looks like an amazing card. Now if I were a hard hard core bencher I would buy 2 of these and blow world records away. Kingpin will have 2, Hipro will have 2, but use "normal" overclockers will probably not unless we re-finance our homes to do such. I think ASUS is a little too late with the card since AMD is just around the corner with DX11, but will these beat out AMD's new DX11 cards in benchmarks? I would like to see the 2 go head to head in 4 way sli and 4 way crossfire

If I were rich, I'd buy them. But I think they should be no more than $800.

Hell yeah, ya gadda point. :) I guess I mean credibility between us geeks. If you look at the posts on this thread, most of them say something along the lines of they wouldn't get it and you'd have to be an idiot to.

Hence, buying this card is unlikely to impress anyone, not even peers.

Oh stop it, you're making me want them now! And my resistance is low... lol :)

Bodar has ordered them and I wish him all the best with them, with just a little envy. :D

I do like the oddness of 8GB of video RAM and 2GB of system RAM, hehe.

Correct me if I'm wrong all this is, is two 285 gtx 2gb cards back to back with a bridge connecting them in a very nice enclosure. Considering you could buy two 285 gtx at about 800.00 that's a bit steep. However, it's still cool and DX11 won't be widely used for at least a year and maybe not then DX10 took a long time to institute.

Wrong. 8800Ultras still go for almost 300 bucks on Ebay all these years later.

Yes, it is. Something that is only made in a limited quantity that is rare to get is considered a collectors item.

Ok, ill correct you. With this you can have 4 GTX285s totaling to 8GB video memory in Quad SLI. You cant do that for 800 bucks and 2 GTX285 cards.
