If I was buying right now, I'd still buy a GTX470. I think they are probably the best value right now for the money, and still offer a monster of a performer.

I already own a 5850. 470 is not worth it to me. But I agree the 470 is an epic bang for the buck card.

I figure it's just a matter of time before the idiots at AMD allow the partners to redo the cooler and the 6990 will become the most perfect overkill gfx card around. Just think, an Asus Direct CUII 6990 variant. Possible?

I know this is a 590 thread but it's only fair i argue for the 6990 now. Once it's noise problem is fixed.

Oh I know, I'm not saying anyone with an HD5800/GTX400 series card should upgrade, in fact I wouldn't upgrade at all.

What I was saying is that if I was building a rig today from scratch, the GTX470 would be pretty high on the list of cards I would be considering. The new HD6950 1GB would be up there too.

    Another one bites the dust

    I couldn't get a video, but here's the damage:

Driver was 267.91 with SLi v6 running Crysis 2 at Extreme, 1920x1200.

Card was EVGA Classified, no overclocking or overvoltage was applied.

Hey, I just feel a bit sorry for the folks that gave $700 bucks away to find their video card "blow up". Pretty unacceptable no matter what company or product it is.

    Info here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insider_trading

"Rule 10b5-1 also created for insiders an affirmative defense if the insider can demonstrate that the trades conducted on behalf of the insider were conducted as part of a preexisting contract or written, binding plan for trading in the future.[3] For example, if a corporate insider plans on retiring after a period of time and, as part of his or her retirement planning, adopts a written, binding plan to sell a specific amount of the company's stock every month for the next two years, and during this period the insider comes into possession of material nonpublic information about the company, any subsequent trades based on the original plan might not constitute prohibited insider trading."

I'm pretty sure all aspects were considered and have to be conform with the regulations before the sell:)

So the Headline "Nvidia GTX590 World's Fastest Video Card" should be enough to prove they were blowing smoke up peoples asses while dumping stock.....OUCH!! Well I hope they actually get prosecuted.

I highly doubt that selling stock is related to one of their least profitable products.

even if it was, that is not considered insider trading. if you are an executive and you believe your company is manufacturing crap which will eventually lower its stock price because of low sales then naturally you are going to want to sell your stock.
