I have this card installed, tried 14.4 and 14.8 driver, Watch Dogs is unplayable. I dropped the resolution to 1024 x 768 @ Low, FPS still average 30 and drops below 10 during actions...

G3258 @4.5GHz (At first I thought it was CPU so I overclocked it, but that changed nothing)
16GB RAM
Windows 7 x64 on SSD, game on HDD RAID 0

any idea why?

Dual core CPU with no HT versus a multi-threaded game that uses more than two cores. There is your problem. Look at the graph below. Notice the jump from 51/52 FPS comes in dual with HT or quad core territory? There is most of your issue.

Watch Dogs is well known for being CPU intensive. Have you tried other games , do you also face those low fps ?

something is wrong here guys. 51fps with 3220@3ghz with 290x @ultra
check what op is saying low resolution, low setting
280x it should be at least 35-40 on ultra. something else is holding him back
ideas: update game to newest patch.
reinstall the game.
check temperatures of gpu/cpu.
try this game on hig/very high but not ultra.
check antialiasing setting, turn it off.
try to use amd game profile (if there is smthg like that)

I tried high setting and AMD optimized settings from AMD gaming envolved, antialiasing from off/fxaa/smaa..but never got stable 40+fps, here http://www.techspot.com/review/827-watch-dogs-benchmarks/page5.html even G3220 @3.0GHz got over 50fps

Intel HD Graphic in G3258@stock frequency performed better before I installed this card

Oky i can do better then corsair 600 :D http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151118

And that price for evga gold not bad at all :toast:
59$ (with 15$ rabate) for gold seasonic made. it is robbery :D

edit:
screw that
it seams that evga had dropped their contract with seasonic. now supernova are fps or superflower made and up to 750W are all multirail. with 20A max per rail they are no go.
also i just have noticed that unit from my link is refurb!

I don't think multi-quotes are working right. I select two posts and hit reply on the 3rd and I only get the last post....

Anyway. If the GPU is at stock or overclocked without adding voltage, that PSU should work fine. That said, I would get a better one. Forget the Seasonic, grab the EVGA Supernova G2 650W for a lot cheaper.

@ the guy with a 3220.... its 2 cores and HT. THe OP has 2 cores. See my link above. The issue is his CPU and lack of cores guys.

Also, an underpowered PSU does not cause low FPS. It works or it doesn't.

I agree that cpu is the problem but i don't agree forgetting seasonic.

You don't have to... until you read the jonnyguru reviews that equals or bests the Seasonics in quality for usually a much lesser price across the entire line. ;)
http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story6&reid=380

That said, there is not a 650W G2 Supernova so that Seasonic is about the best (high quality) choice out there, LOL! I just thought there was a 650W model from EVGA and there is not yet.

Thanks for the vid... looks choppy as hell...

Are you sure they are true multirail with OCP actually cutting off at 20A? I haven't read any reviews.

That is regurgitating specs and not terribly helpful. As I said earlier, you need to know if there is actually OCP on the rails at the rated 20A or whatever. A lot of sticker specs show multi-rail but they really are not since any rail could handle the full output. You may be correct, but that link, though neat, doesn't confirm it.

For an example, look at the 750W G1. See how it says 20x4 rails or 80A. How are you going to squeeze 80A out of a 750W PSU? That PSU may actually have OCP at set at 20A, but my point is those ratings listed need to be backed up by a review that states where the OCP is set/if it is a true multi-rail PSU. ;)

Did you try to install MSI Afterburner and in OSD > mark show in OSD > GPU load and CPU load, then playing, if your GPU is running at lets say 50% then you have a bottleneck that either comes from your CPU or from the game/drivers.
It should look like this https://www.google.ro/search?q=msi osd&safe=off&espv=2&biw=1280&bih=923&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=3pYZVIGYCYf8ygOGi4HIDw&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=EFp7Pimq1juV9M%3A;SU5Q0-AYTZq1HM;http%3A%2F%2Fs001.radikal.ru%2Fi196%2F1104%2F8d%2F169abd5db4bd.bmp;http%3A%2F%2Fforums.guru3d.com%2Fshowthread.php%3Fp%3D3951228;1680;1050

650g unit review.

i couldnt find anything about ocp and i couldnt see close to 20A load per rail so no real info about its capabilities. it has 4 pcie connectors so it might be that 20A limit refers them. who knows
if you have misleading info about psu and if its capabilities are unclear better dont touch.
i am not jonnyguru but multi rail unit less then 1kw or with more then 2 rails - no thanks. with vga cars capable to suck more then 300w multi rail unit can become hard obstacle for running hardware you'd like.

EVGA PSU/mobo is overpriced in general, and not always top of the line. GPU is the exception to that and imo that is what they should stick to. Theyre good at that, especially aftersales and step-up.

-> Go Seasonic and just get a bronze its more than fine, unless you find higher rated at same price. Above bronze it doesn't pay off really, its a marginal difference you'll only earn back on a 850w + 24/7 system, not on 600w gaming rigs.

I run it on 60fps locked at ultra (except texture, AA) on my system.

You just need to mod it and it's all good and looks better while running smoother than stock.

But yeah, game itself is still shit. Far Cry with GTA sauce and worthless hacking additions. Thanks for nothing Ubi :)

I will give you that point on the motherboard... but not the PSU's.. to be specific, the entire G2 Supernova line is rated as high or higher than the mighty Seasonic and Corsair AXi platforms and cost less at the same wattage in a lot of cases...

Example:

EVGA G2 750W $120 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438017&cm_re=750W_G2-_-17-438-017-_-Product
Corsair 760W $160 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...39042&cm_re=Corsair_AX-_-17-139-042-_-Product
Seasonic 750W $140 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...87&cm_re=Seasonic_750W-_-17-151-087-_-Product

EVGA G2 850W $144 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438018&cm_re=850W_G2-_-17-438-018-_-Product
Corsair 860W $180 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...39044&cm_re=Corsair_AX-_-17-139-044-_-Product
Seasonic 850W $160 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...02&cm_re=Seasonic_850W-_-17-151-102-_-Product

I believe that holds true above these price points as well... Considering the EVGA 1300W is $170 at newegg while the Corsair is $340, LOL!

I run it on 60fps locked at ultra (except texture, AA) on my system.
"Except with eye candy" is what you should have said, LOL!
