I have found something rather annoying on my Maximus VI Formula mobo, only the very top PCIe slot will operate @ PCIe 3.0 x16 no matter whether I am using multiple cards or not. Currently I am only runnning one 780 and using the second PCIe slot due to the nature of my water cooling loop, but aida and GPU-Z report my GPU to be @ PCIe 3.0 x8.

From reading I gather that pretty much none of the current GPU's will even fully saturate the PCIe 3.0 bus @ x8 and so I should not see any performance difference whether it is x8 or x16, is this correct?

maybe 1-3%.

Same problem on ALL Z87 boards, pretty much, unless you get one that has the PLX PEX8747 bridge chip, x16 is upper-most slot only, x8 from that is split form the first down to the 2nd, and x4 from second is split down to third slot (if there is one).

So I wouldn't worry about it much.
